I'm a freshman right now at a cc and am applying to these two schools next fall. I would be applying as a geography or anthropology major at ucsb or both for cal poly. I had a 3.4 last semester, volunteered, and had 2 part time jobs. This semester I did the same and am expecting a 3.6 or a 3.8 gpa depending on one class. I was wondering if anyone knew what my chances would probably be, I feel like I've been doing a lot better every semester but unfortunately I have to apply next fall and I don't know if they will look at those classes to consider my application. I am also a dsps student, I don't know if that has anything to do with the application process. I would appreciate any help! thank you!!!

These are also just the only two schools I have visited, I am still looking for more, so if anyone has anyone suggestions please let me know!

@sbcc1315 shoe in for ucsb regardless of your gpa cuz ur right on the track. remember to check the admission requirements and major / department requirements before applying. for cal poly, with a gpa above 3.6 i think ur in.

UCSB is probably a go considering you’re not applying to an impacted major. They only screen a few majors for completion of pre-reqs, otherwise your GPA is pretty much your deciding factor.

Is your GPA only with UC-transferable courses?!

all the classes I took transfers to UC and CSU’s. I have followed IGETC while also taking major classes for both UCSB and Cal Poly, a counselor gave me a list of classes that cal poly doesn’t require but it’s good if you take them so I have also taken those. I have been taking any classes that would increase my chances of acceptance hopefully as well as allow me to transfer with 60 transferable units

Just maintain atleast a 3.2 GPA and TAG to UCSB. and make sure you finish your 2 english requirements and 1 math requirement in the fall before transfer.
