Cal Rental Approval before acceptance...mean anything?

cs133... you got the second email? when did you put in the request and when did you get a response?

yeah, that's the second email, although i think they give you your user Id for the rental site, not the cal id, unless for some reason you did?

Wow, I wonder if that kills our theory then. I thought econ was a competitive major at Cal. Also, TAP doesn't mean anything to Berkeley.

Uhhh, exciting, so you got email #2....ok, then it still could mean something! Did you apply to Haas?

I was wondering that it may also depend on what schools you are applying to because some schools can make their decisions faster than the other ones. Do you know if every school has their own admission team who read just applications of those applying to Haas or College of L&S etc?

i put in my request 2 days ago

do u think my extra curiculars might of helped me?

im a financial intern at merrill lynch
im in the honors program
i am on the deans list

I still have not received the second email...my stats are:

Major:math
Prereqs: all completed except diff eq.
gpa:3.7 (one F, two B's, the rest A's)
major gpa: 4.0
EC: Full time financial analyst, dean's list, honors classes..
IGETC:completed

idk im so confused rightnow
i dont know whether to be excited or dissapointed

has anyone tried calling berkeley about asking them about it?
or emailing admissions

btw my gpa is so low becuz i started out with 16 units C before even becoming a full time student at CC cuz i took classes in high school
then my gpa gradually improved
3.4, 3.6, then 3.8 last quarter.

cs133 the way UCB is calculating your gpa may be different then the way you are. I know they don't count classes taken over five years ago for example. Best of luck! :)

cs13372004, there is no reason to be disappointed. Maybe starting to be excited or curious... but I think there is a good chance you are in, it's not guaranteed but you never know.

As your major is econ, did you apply to Haas or other school?

no just ECON at L &S
haas was too hard but i did finish the breadth requirements for haas and was about to until i found out how competitive it was

So it looks like L&S is making decisions sooner than other schools that's why you guys got email#2.

Berkeley doesn't count any classes taken 5 years ago?!?
WOO HOO!!!

wait... is that for sure?

You're TAP certified for UCB? Don't they review those applications first, as can be seen with the early release of UCD TAP acceptances.

Anyway, if what I said above is correct, it could actually support our theory; those being considered for the Regents scholarship are distinguished from the applicant pool quickly, so as to allow the financial aid office to have more time in making the final decisions for the scholarship, and TAP applicants are, as I said, considered before others, as well.

It could just be that the admissions office is still finalizing all other decisions, while TAP and Regent applicants have already been decided on.

"Berkeley doesn't count any classes taken 5 years ago?!?
WOO HOO!!!

wait... is that for sure?"

Heard it straight from the admissions office :)

UCB doesn't participate in TAP though...hmm

Yes they do, Mathtransfer.

But, only like 19 colleges are actually able to participate; it's rare, but it does exist.

Mathtransfer

Thanks for being the bearer of good news! I must spread the gospel!

lol ur welcome CCstudent88.

Ektaylor - good to know (well I guess it is too late for me lol)

For those of you who recieved the second email already, how long was the gap between when you filled out the Cal Rentals app and when you got email #2?

I inquired 9pm on Monday night, and received the approval Tuesday morning at 8:48am.
