ok, my bad...sorry about that
well to help you guys out, plus I'm very curious..I followed your link and just applied for an account. I'll let you guys know what happened and if i get any emails. I hope they don't try to offer me housing since I already have housing...lol,lol

thanks!! I love you so much!!!!!!!!!1

yeah, thanks for helping us out!

ok... so I got that 1st email that is asking me for faxed verification of being a newly admitted student or if I am already a registered student to use my CalNet ID. It's strange that they didn't link up my name to the already registered student's name. Maybe that's why it asks for me to log in using my CalNet ID. Should I wait and see if they recognize that I am already a registered student and approve me for a rental listing account?

I might get an account using my CalNet ID, 20 dollars isn't bad for a rental listing in this area.

luvtoolearn, thanks for all that support;) I would wait to see if they match you through their database...and we will see if you get email#2 without using your CalNet ID

hmmm, that's interesting, everyone (excet the op, an exception to the case) who got email #2 did not receive email #1 (correct me if I'm worng). Since you're an already registered student, I'd assume that you'd definitely appear in the "database" compared to a newly admitted student. So, it seems like there isn't an automatic look-up to see if you're in the cal system, since luvtoolearn didn't receive just email #2. I don't know where this theory is going, but thanks for your help luvtoolearn.

I think the problem is that luvtolearn isn't a newcomer/affiliate student anymore, which is why they need verification from her. Since there are two registration options - one for current students w/ a CalNet ID and one for incoming studnets (w/o a CalNet ID), there may be separate databases - one for registered students and one for "future" students.

But seriously, I kind of stopped following this so closely now because unlike last year's theory, there is no real pattern.

yeah, i'm loosing the faith too

First email received, an hour turnaround.

I think Blurry is right.. I think they do have totally different databases for new students/affiliates and already registered students, that would explain why they asked for me to go back and use the CalNet ID database, plus all my information is in that database.

I've never paid attention to the users here, but I just realize that joehanus is the best username I've seen thus far.

how could so little ppl get the approal email +(
i would love more news on this lol

haha, thanks lackofsense, but cs1337, i don't think we really have any updates as of now, besides the fact that a cal student, luvtoolearn, put in a request for the calrentals app and only got email #1. you know, someone said a while back that the calrentals office could got back through all their requests (not automatically by computer) and look up people by themselves in order to make an extra 20 bucks, so that could still be a possibility. i find it strange that luvtoolearn didn't get email #2 though, and i don't know what to think about the "two different databases" idea - but it could be correct.

its becoming like a lost theory chat in here

I side with Joehanus Locke

Music stuck in my head.

*Jump on it, joehanus, joehanus, joehanus

lol,lol...lackofsense..that is too funny

sorry guys that it didn't work out..I tried, but no 2nd email so I don't know what happened with that.

Sorry to start up on this thread again but that 2nd email came in approving my housing account.... thought you guys should know, because I did not use my Calnet ID to log in.
Not sure if it means anything but just wanted to give you all a heads up. =)

i applied for cal housing. I'm waiting on the first email. i applied late friday evening, so maybe the response comes during business hours.

Hm, this thread just got interesting, again, with your approval, luvtoolearn.

Seems to support our theory of email-2 = acceptance.
