Yes, there's many here with great chances, not to mention all the lurkers who (I hope) would make an account telling us they got email #2. Another possibility is that those who got email #2 are Regents recipients?

I still haven't gotten the 2nd email, grrr.

For the sake of testing the theory:

Stats- 3.8 GPA, Psychology major, Pre-reqs not met, tons of ec's, four years in the Army, received the highest non-combat medal in the Army (Soldier's Medal), pretty good essay about growing up poor then tied it into saving someone's life in the Army.

I think not having the Pre-reqs knocks me down a few pegs, but they weren't offered at my school.

That crossed my mind, as well.

sam here, MOS25V10. I couldn't take the pre-req's b/c they're not offered. but that doesn't matter, they can't hold it against you if you couldn't take it. in theory, it should not knock you down a few pegs.

my major has 3 pre-req's but none offered at my school. last year, i met someone that is a phil major and was transferring to UCB. she said she didn't have any of the pre-req's as they don't offer them.

I have yet to see a CCC where the prereqs articulate for philosophy at UCB, so I don't think it matters in the least.

thanks for the knowledge xleper. I was worried about that.

The competition for Berkeley is insane. Add the fact that psychology is an impacted major and I imagined people just chucking apps without pre reqs out the window. You'd think that the smart people at Berkeley would use a trash can but in my head Berkeley has a messy front lawn, haha.

All the people that got the 2nd email, are you Regents recipients or otherwise associated with Berkeley?

UCB does not sent out Regents invitations for transfer students, they release their decisions based solely on the UC application at the time of regular admission decisions; thus, it is not possible to know who is being considered or have received the Regents scholarship.

Though, I did receive the UCLA Regents invitation and the second email. And finally, no, I am in no way affiliated with UCB -- barring my application, of course.

Perhaps my involvement with several drinking competitions here at Davis made me a desirable candidate..who knows.

Seriously though, I'm starting to think that it was a fluke that I got the second e-mail. I'm betting that some person saw my application, knew that I would pay the $20 just to see if I could squeeze out some more info, and then announced to his/her co-workers at CalHousing "GUYS, LUNCH IS ON ME!"

Good to know Ektaylor.

Somebody said why would they go through so much trouble digging for your affiliation. It crossed my mind too so I thought it is either all in the system once you are admitted or they really go and look to an appropriate database to see if you are admitted to get the $20 from new incomers.

I also believe that decisions are kind of on rolling basis. Once they decided you are definitely in, they will put you in the system. Then, you get email #2 (even without ever receiving #1). But those who are not admitted yet receive email #1 and then after being admitted #2. Thinking about it now, it's more likely all in the system and email 2 is automatically sent to you once there is an update in the system or something.

I haven't gotten email #2 yet but I also think they didn't decide on me yet because I'm an out of state student applying to the very competitive Haas. So first, they will fill it in with CA students and then worry about the out of state ones.

Stats: PA CC student, 4.00 (49 credits, working on 20 credits this semester), selected for Student Leadership Program, adult literacy center and school club volunteer, part time job, load of course work, pre-req. and breath completed or in process, business major, English is not my first language, I'm from Europe, came to US 3 years ago ... so we'll see what it does

I agree with your, UCB/NYU dreamer.

I think your stats are great! I wish you all the luck! =)

Thanks, good luck to you too!!! Once we get in (and we will:), we'll all celebrate through College Confidential...party!! yahoo:)

UCB/NYU where are you from in Europe? I'm in Germany now but I've been all over.

That applies to me as well. I also received the UCLA Regents invitation. Since, UCLA and UCB get very similar application pools. It's safe to say that Ektaylor and I are top ~3% of the application pool. That makes me want to say that we are 99% guaranteed admission.

On a side note, I hope I get awarded Regents for UCB too.

I'm from the Czech Republic, right next to Germany :) Have you been to Prague?? BEAUTIFUL city, miss it really bad. What u doing in Germany?

I really hate that 1%.

You and me both, buddy.

Regents invitation = in.

The theory makes substantially more sense now that information is out in the open.

Congratulations to the 3 of you BTW! Even though you had nothing to worry about to begin with.

UCB/NYU dreamer: i agree with you in that berkeley may be entering applicants into their database (or whatever) who are definitely admitted - they first have to fill a quota of CCC students applicants first, do they not? I'm also an out of state student from a four-year college so I know that I'll be treated with the lowest priority possible, at the bottom of the pile, therefore I know that my admissions decision will probably be made at the eleventh hour.

OMG I'M IN!!!!!!!!!

j/k. I haven't been keeping up with this thread's theory
