I hear ya, joehanus. I kind of understand why they give priority to CCC students but I still think it's quite unfair. They should provide educational opportunities to all the students from U.S. equally.

I see us refreshing the page every sec on the 30th and a minute before midnight we will finally get a decision...:/

Which state are you from? I was considering that if I don't get in this year, I'll just move to CA, find a job for a year and reapply next year :) However, I don't know if it would really make a difference - do i have to be CCC or just CA resident.....who knows.... i'm tired from all the waiting

UCB/NYU dreamer: I also understand your concerns, I am a California resident who is currently going to school out of state. Thus, I have no idea what category I fall in. I'm an oxymoron, an out-of-state Californian. When I applied to my UCs I didn't realize at first that all the CCCers got priority especially with TAP, I was ****ed, but then I realized it was more than fair.
While California is a desirable place to live, school and living costs are really expensive. The majority of Californian students can't afford it and if they didn't get priority over everyone else in the U.S., most would not likely go to a UC.

haha, I see that too ucb/nyu dreamer, i've actually been practicing my refresh-page skills for the big night.

I go to a four-year college in colorado and the wait is eating away at my soul! ah, it's not that bad - but close. I do wish I could find some stats or something on the type of students Cal admits from out of state every year, but for the time being, I really have no idea what's going happen. Do you know of anybody who's transferred from out of state?

Ektaylor and changusmc add me into your 99% guaranteed admission calculation, I got invited too. I know this sounds horrible but UCSC asked me to compete for the regents scholarship and when I opened the letter I seriously said, “are you kidding me? You should just give it to me.” I understand why you have to compete for it at UCLA but santa cruz? Really? I hope this doesn’t make me sound pompous but come on people.

random thought: Do you think there are still people checking the cal site to see if they’re admitted even though it says “end of april?”

UCB/NYU- I haven't been to Prague yet. I've heard great things though. Maybe I'll go next month. I hear it's a good place to shop.

I love Europe! You can fly all over for next to nothing with ryanair.com. Interacting with people that have a different worldview is the best part though. You learn so much.

I'm in the Army, stationed in Wiesbaden (near Frankfurt).

MOS25V10, I know ryanair is like dream airlines. You can get anywhere for hardly any money. I wish they were also operating here :) Well, I strongly recommend going to Prague. If love the rest of Europe, then you will definately love Prague ;)

As for my out of state position, I'll just have to hold my breath to the last minute and hope I'll get in. I'd even gladly pay Ca taxes if it increased the chances to get into my dream school :) Heh

This is slightly off topic, but, for those of you who are now able to log into Cal Rentals (for whatever reason), how does the list of rentals on Cal Rentals compare to those on Craigslist? Are they the same, better, worse, fewer, more? Do the prices compare? I don't know if I should shell out $20 for Cal Rentals, or just stick with my old trusty friend Craig.

The CalRentals is actually quite useful - like I said earlier, tons and tons of results and I think it is much safer than Craigslist because you will be dealing primarily with UCB students.
In terms of pricing, it varies of course, but I think it is a great service to use.

If you're really looking for housing at Berkeley, the $20 is a good investment.
If you're like me and are currently waiting to see if you were accepted, it's a mediocre investment - one only out of desperation...

My sister in law, who also applied to Cal, tried the cal rentals thing. She's a English major with a 3.9+ GPA and was a english tutor at her CC. I know she's pretty much guaranteed acceptance at Cal but she only received email #1. English has like a 50% acceptance rate.

An English major told me that Cal had an English undergrad program that was ranked 4th best in the WORLD. With that acceptance rate, I am assuming his info was incorrect?

No it is true. The graduate department at Cal is ranked top five in the nation. The undergrad transfer acceptance rate is at like 46% to the humanities department. The reason is that the humanities department has less applicants than the social science department.
