Cal: Should I even bother?

I'm currently a freshman at UC Davis, majoring in polisci but am the possibility of transferring from Davis to Berkeley. I already know that UCB has a stellar political science department but I am concerned about networking and internship opportunities.

TLDR
-How does Berkeley's job/internship accessibility compare with that of an East Coast school (Gtown, Columbia) or even that of UCD, which has a large Career Center and is in close proximity to the Capitol?

I don’t know how hard it would be from Davis to Cal, but for sure it is significantly easier to transfer from a CC to Cal. I would assume transferring from UC to UC would be difficult, but honestly who cares? Davis is a great school, top 40, with excellent internship opportunities in poli sci considering its proximity to Silicon Valley and the state capital.

Berkeley does have some prestigious internships: Cal in the Capital, Cal in Sacramento, Cal in Local government, but they are pretty competitive to get into (33% acceptance rate) so it’s not like Davis where if you have good grades and a good resume you’ll automatically land an internship. Keep in mind however, that the internship opportunities at Berkeley are more prestigious than at Davis (working in the office of the governor, state legislative assistant, ect), but it’s not that big a difference.

All in all, Davis is better for internship opportunities. Plus, yeah Berkeley does have a top notch poli sci program (ranked top 10 for graduate, dunno about under grad), but no one cares if you’re going to grad school. A poli sci degree even at Harvard won’t get you a high paying job unless you have super connections and can get elected to a statewide office (which is not often the case). if you want to go to law school for example, no one would care if you went to berkeley or davis for undergrad.

you’re already at a great school, with great, in fact more numerous internship opportunities than Cal. so i would say stick to davis
