Cal State Apply - Help Please!

Hello! So I’m in the process of putting in my A-G courses, and it is to my knowledge that the CSU system looks at my Weighted 10-12 A-G course GPA most because I am a CA resident. According to my transcript, I should have a GPA around a 4.35 (it might be a bit lower, I know my school weighs things a bit differently) but my GPA comes out as a 3.96.

This has rattled me quite a bit, and I don’t know what to do. I’ve taken out the electives and P.E. classes which aren’t supposed to be there/any class without a. A-G classification. This still hasn’t solved my problem, and my GPA remains a 3.96. Is this how it truly is for Cal State Apply? Or is there something I’m doing wrong?

If it helps, I had moved between semesters my freshman year, and my counselor says that the classes I took at my old school may have affected the GPA, but that it shouldn’t have affected it to such a degree. If anyone has anything that could help me, the effort would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Many of the Honors courses listed on HS transcripts are not UC approved Honors courses so they do not receive the extra honors points. Also CSU’s cap the Honors points received to 8 semesters and only 4 semesters for 10th grade.

You can look up your HS’s UC approved courses that will give the 8 extra honors points in the calculation here:

If you still think the calculation is incorrect, you can PM me your grades and classes from 10-11th grades and I would be happy to double check your GPA. CSU’s will also recalculate your GPA based on your reported courses/grades from the application.

Most likely your HS is weighting courses that are not considered “honors/weighted” based on the CSU and UC criteria.
