Cal (UC Berkeley) Financial Aid

Hey, i made this thread to talk about finaid offers.

Everyone, who is a california resident, should check if they have the cal grant posted in their finaid offer!

Also, feel free to post your EFC and the amount of money you got in grants/loans.

PS. it was brought to my attention that the cal grant was NOT posted in the financial aid offer.

cal is stingy with money :P

did you get any?

I have been offered the Cal Grant at the other UC's that I was accepted to, but not at Cal. I wonder why this is?

yeah, people should definately call tomorrow! peep2 told me about it, i didnt notice it.

bump! more people should be talking about this ! its important! lol

Also, i just realized that the financial aid package says its a total of 20 thousand, when it reality, it costs 25 thousand to go there!

i got grants, not much but i got some

can you post

EFC
Grant
Loans
Work Study
Total amount

please.

i just got accepted to cal, i don't feel like doing any cc homework right now

Omfg i just checked my Cal Grant info site, my application has not been processed yet ***. I submitted it in early feb too UGH

Cal grant is based on income (relatively low) and is automatically given to those who qualify at any in state school.

for answers regarding our cal grant
i found this link: http://students.berkeley.edu/fao/calgrants.html#8

look at number 13

to sum it up: we either get cal grant or university grant(UG scholarship), so no full ride for any of us!

yeah to add to that... i called them today and apparently the max of all grants (state, federal, university) a student can get is around $12k. so if you get a cal grant then they take away some stuff. but like i told mojo if you live in an apt, it's not going to cost you $25k to go to cal. when i calculated my own expenses (i already live here in an apt), it was more like $17k.

Bumping this up because some people are probably worried about it too.

oh, i was also told that everyone gets 20 thousand instead of 25 because they assume they will be in off-campus housing. However, if you decide to dorm, make sure to let the finaid people know, and they will fix your offer, prolly with more grants, she said.

has anyone received anything through the mail from Cal yet?
