I was wondering if anyone received their letters from CalArts yet? I was informed that they’d arrive late February/early March, but I haven’t received anything yet, so I’m feeling a little nervous. I don’t quite want to contact anyone just yet, but I was just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat?
Thanks!
I did hear a bunch of people received them already. As sometimes people do get lost in the shuffle, I definitely would call and check in.
Ah, okay. Thank you for informing me! I’ll send out an email in that case, heh
We were told the same thing at audition but also haven’t had a decision from CalArts either. I called the admission dept. at the beginning of this week to check if they had an old email address for my S and they checked and told me that his decision hasn’t been sent yet and applicants are still being processed.
Ah okay! Darnit and I just sent out an email too–well still thats relieving to hear!

Hi! I also have not heard back yet. I auditioned in January during NYC unified. I was wondering if you could both tell me about your experiences? Just trying to compare with people who are still waiting like me.
@mrfj18 My son’s not on CC but I can tell you what I know. He auditioned on campus at the end of January. He thought it went really well but it was his first college audition so didn’t really have much to compare it to at the time I suppose It was definitely less hectic and rushed than his later experience with some of the schools at LA Unifieds. Before the individual auditions the head of theatre admissions spoke to the group, as did the acting professor that was auditioning the applicants. They spoke about the program, the audition process and answered a few questions, and both did a great job of trying to ease the pre-audition tension. They told us how the auditions were going to run and that everyone was free to leave once their individual audition was over. They then took all of the students into a different waiting room and called them into individual auditions based on last name alpha order. My son did his two monologues and was then asked for a 3rd. I’m glad we had previously visited and taken a student led tour though. If we only had the early Saturday morning-of-audition impression to go by we would have thought there were only about 5 kids in the school. The place felt completely empty, which is is not really unusual on most college campuses early on a weekend morning, but did make me wonder though if it was more of a commuter campus with kids going home on the weekends. We got what seemed like the very last spot in the furthest reaches of the lower parking lot when we did a mid-week tour, but was able to park literally in the spot next to the front door in an almost empty lot that Saturday morning. My son really liked what he heard and saw on the tour though and our student tour guide who was a BFA Acting major did her job really well. Good luck! I hope everyone still waiting gets good news, whenever it finally drops
@calgalsal thank you! That sounds like a really great experience. Good luck to him as well!
@theatrekid1997, @mrfj18 My son was a no for CalArts. Got an email to check his portal yesterday afternoon. He has a couple of other yes’s already from schools he preferred so not such a big deal for him but I hope if you are both still waiting that good news is on it’s way soon.
Son wait-listed at Cal Arts, going to shadow classes next week, we assume the wait-list is likely very low odds and then question that is he is accepted on wait-list, does this bring him in as a second tier student?
Your son will not be considered a second tier student at all, no worries. If he really wants to go to calarts I would make sure he lets them know that it is his first choice program when he goes to the shadow day. The shadow day is all day, so hopefully he will get a really good feel for the program!
Thank you!!
