Calc AB or BC??

I will be a junior this year and I have currently signed up for
APUSH
AP Chem
AP Comp Sci
AP Calc AB
Am Lit

I am thinking of changing AB to BC, as I managed to end with an A in my previous math class (Precalc). Considering my current schedule, how much would that add to my workload next year? Additionally, how difficult would it be to self study for the BC exam if I decide to stick with AB?

Thanks!

If you’re gonna take the BC exam anyway, you might as well take the BC class. You’ll probably perform better on the exam if you do this. Four APs isn’t totally overwhelming if you just keep up with your work–assuming you’re a smart kid. Good luck!

Some BC classes assume you took AB (or have it as a prereq). But BC isn’t too hard if you can learn the AB topics well.

I would consider both APUSH and AP Chem very challenging AP’s. I love history and hate science, if that shows any bias- I didn’t take AP Chem, but everyone I know that did had a miserable time. If you enjoy math and/or it comes naturally, I think BC is doable. Take BC if you want to take the exam anyways. If math isn’t quite your thing, AB is fine, especially as a junior.

I agree with @novafan1225. I didn’t find APUSH that time consuming/hard, but AP Chemistry is definitely a lot of work. If you enjoy math, it comes to you easy, and you are confident with your math skills, than I would say go for BC. If you struggle to keep up, had to work EXTREMELY hard for an A, and you’re not confident, stick with AB.
