Calc AB vs. BC

Hey everyone! I don't know if this thread should go here but w/e. I need u guyz opinion. I took Calculus survey during my junior year. And now, I was put in Calc AB. I got high B's across for Calc during my junior year. And a lot of my friends are saying it's a waste of time for me to take Calc AB cuz it's basically the same thing as Calc survey? So should I transfer out of AB into BC? Thanks~

Yes, don't take AB. College only award you .5 credit for AB. Take BC if you have the chance. BC is AB and more.

What you could always do is take AB, then take the BC exam. If you have a 5 on the AB subscore, you're guaranteed at least a 4 on the BC exam. At some colleges, a 4 on the BC exam does give u 1 credit.

Different colleges award different credit for AP scores. So look at the colleges you are aiming for and see what exam you have to take to receive credit. At many schools, passing the AB test will give you credit for Calc 1. (not the survey course)

Take BC. It would be stupid to take AB and then take the BC test. Challenge yourself.

It's not stupid, downtown128, it's strategy. =) (Sidenote: I took BC last year heh.)

Question: What if I take AB this year & go to comm college to take the next two levels?

what do you mean by "next two levels"?

I'm a junior taking AB. Still ok if i take the next math courses (after AB... probably a comm college course) next year?

Take BC next year ^.

That's what I'm doing.

But BC would be a repeat, right?
because BC = ABC ...

AB is 2/3s of BC so it should be easy for you.

If you get 5 on BC, you get credits for 1st and 2nd semester of college level calculus.

You basically go straight to 3rd and 4th semesters.

This is the reason I'm taking BC.

Besides, I can't take linear algebra or other higher level mathematics unless I pass BC in my school.

and why would you want to take higher level mathematics anyway?

I'm a senior.

I'm in BC now.

I wouldn't take a higher level mathematics.
