Calculate yield rates

I am looking at yield rates at several colleges. I have a questions. Do college typically add early decision into the total applicants to calculate applicant and yield rates.
Thanks

Yield is total first-year enrolled divided by total first-year admitted. This includes students admitted ED and students offered admission from the wait list.

What about deferrals? Do you count those who deferred from the prior year or those or are deferring to the next year

The common data set initiative attempts to standardize reporting of many statistics related to students at a college including the numbers admitted and enrolled. There are no specific rules for deferred students. However, any first-year student offered admission would count as an admitted student, even students who defer admission for a semester or a year.
