DS is filling out his Cal Poly SLO app and we are confused by the GPA calculator. Since it caps honors classes at 8, his GPA is lowered for every A entered. He has earned only 1 B since his sophomore year and has 10 honors classes, thus entering 8. So if he enters 24 A’s his GPA is 4.21, but if he enters 22 A’s it is 4.25. If he only entered grades for 10th and 11th grade it is 4.37.

His official California HS transcript with a-g courses lists his weighted college GPA at 4.38. So we really don’t know what to report! As I read through the admissions information it stated that Cal Poly with run all the numbers based on self reporting as well. So I wonder how critical the accuracy of his self reported GPA is. I know admission to ME is very competitive and points on GPA make a difference.

Any one know how to navigate the weighted GPA process? Thanks!
