calculating GPA

hey guys, im a high school student in toronto, canada and im planning to study abroad in the US. i was just wondering, since we use percentages here, how GPA is calculated exactly. for example, does the GPA take in account all the years of high school? and what are the GPA rankings per mark, etc. i really have no clue how to calculate my GPA, and any help would be appreciated

bumppppping, any help is appreciated

I doubt anyone can tell you - it varies a ton from school to school. Ask your counselor.

CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - GPA Calculator

A lot of colleges count -/+, too, but that calculator can give you a rough estimate.

I thought that there was a base for this?
%..............Letter Grade............Points
90-100% ..........A......................4.0
80-89% .......... B......................3.0
70-79% ..........C......................2.0
60-69% ..........D......................1.0
0-59% ..........F......................0.0

At my school, you add the points (if you took 4 classes and got a 90-100% you'd have 20 points) and divide it by the total classes taken (if it is a year long class and you got a grade per quarter, that one class would count as 4). I'm sure that there is some type of online calculator.

^ or you could always create your own using excel
