Calculus II

I took BC calc as a junior and got a 5 on the AP exam. However, my school did not offer multivariate calculus, so I did not take any math other than AP stat senior year. It's been a long time since I even thought about calculus and I'm concerned about skipping Calc I and II. Would it be wise to start out with Calc II? I'm in the honors program, but I don't really think I want to do Honors Calc II, again, because it's been so long since I looked at the material. Any advice? Thanks!

What’s you intended major/track?

Why don’t you just review some of the material yourself before taking the course, should you decide to take a difficult Calc course?

Right now I’m thinking premed, ASMAJ, so I need at least one calculus class, I just don’t know which. Biology is my chosen major right now.

Invictus8, I’ll be gone part of the summer and am concerned that I won’t have time to review enough to make up the difference.

Is the Honors version of Calc II faster moving? Does the smaller class with more accessibility to the professor counteract the more in depth study?

If you do choose biology, I would just go for the easy A and take calc 1. If you need another math take stats, maybe there’s a honors version. Most majors don’t need upper level math classes. Psych needs stats 1 +2. Biochem is calc 2. Chem is Calc 3. The engineering, math, and physics need those upper level math classes.

There is also Calc 2 for AP Students. You can probably PM kaitlinc and ask how Calc 3 was. She took that her 1st semester.

Thanks, ASMAJ. I am still torn. I feel like I should take Calc II for some reason, because I already did BC Calc. Wouldn’t med schools feel like I took the easy way out if I did Calc I? What is Calc II for Ap students? Is it easier or harder than regular Calc II?

calc2 for AP students reviews some from calc1

Nope. The class would override you AP credit or you can just ask your adviser to remove the AP credit from you transcript.
