Calculus is going to kill me

Getting a wrong answer by yourself is better than copying...

I'm really an out of the box thinker lol anyway we're doing derivatives of trig functions and I almost cried in class. It's soo incredibly hard. I have trouble doing derivatives of regular functions...well I don't but still.

Hey, I didn't say that I don't LIKE math, I just said that I suck at it. I too am an embrassament to the Asian population. :P

4. If you are good at math, you are also good at Chemistry, Physics, Rocket Science, Cosmology, etc. It is the basis for a lot of studies.

Wrong. I consider myself pretty good at math, but I suck at chemistry, physics, rocket science, cosmology, and I won't even touch nuclear physics with a 200 foot pole.

I pretty much dominated financial accounting when I took the class (read: this class IS almost basic finance+a little bit of accounting and financial statements) and I'm pretty much dominating AP econ right now. So it depends on the person. If you're good at math, you're good at math. Period. Doesn't mean you're good at anything else.

***....ap calc is easy

Ah, I see. Well, thank you all for sharing you opinions. :)

i have AP Calc right now. im liking it and my teacher is really goodits all about practicing the problems so u can do it!

I guess AP Calc really depends on the teacher. I personally love it. I've always been "good" at mat, but it wasn't until AP Calc AB last year that my teacher pushed me and I found that I actually enjoyed(!!!) math and specifically calculus. I have the same teacher again this year for AP Calc BC (Cal II) and it's even better. =). Calc II is probably hard if you didn't have AB/I before it or a really good teacher, but it works great in our class. woot.

What specifically are you having trouble with?

At my school, AP Calc isn't that bad as a subject, but we have the teacher from hell. She won't answer questions without commencing a 5-minute lecture on how if we'd paid attention, we wouldn't have to ask the question. She doesn't seem to comprehend that someone might genuinely NOT GET IT. So now no one asks questions in class and she makes rude insinuations about how we'd all better get As on the tests since we appear to have such a grasp on the material.

That said, I'm not a math person in any sense of the word, but I actually enjoy Calculus. There's something pleasingly practical about it and it's not as boring as run-of-the-mill Algebra.

Probably not going to go on to Calc II, though.

U know what else is going to kill me? The soaring price of gasoline. I need to get to NYU, and FAST!!! Because I'm running out of money trying to feed gas into my car...and lately it's gotten really fuel inefficient. Last fillup I put in 8 gallons and it only lasted me like 130 miles or sth...in a freaking TOYOTA!!!...maybe time to change the oil again.

I am now a proud owner of not one but TWO calculus text books, that is, if I ever get the other one. I basically ordered my book online and haven't gotten it yet despite the fact that I paid for expedited shipping and all. Grr. So I went to the campus bookstore and bought another one seeing as how I have to study for class on Monday.

Oh, and my professor has some good office hours. The catch? His office is located 30-45 mins away from my campus. I remember now why I chose to apply only to teeny private schools.
