Calculus over summer

So I am a attending a fairly rigorous college and like most colleges, it tries to weed out most science majors enrolled in the pre-health program within the first two years. So in order to spend more time on my studies, I'm looking at taking 1 semester of calculus over the summer at my local community college then finishing it up for good in the fall.

My GC warned me that medical schools like to see the main classes (bio, chem and calc) taken at your "home institution" and frown upon taking them elsewhere; some even require it. She doesn't really know what she is talking about regarding other matters so I'm looking for some advice here. Anyone? Thanks.

Some medical schools will straight-up not accept courses taken at a CC. You can imagine that the others don’t look fondly on it.

In any case, you already use 75% of the year in school to demonstrate your skill as a student. Take the summer to demonstrate your ability in something else.
