<p>Berkeley picks the one that is best long term. Cal Grant B is lower the first year, but then higher in subsequent years. Berkeley will make up the difference with a Cal Bears scholarship for the first year.</p>
<p>This nets a total slighlty higher over 4 years than Cal Grant A. You can only get one Cal Grant, not both.</p>
<p>I think there is a lower income threshhold for B, so not every one who can get A can get B</p>
<p>I had this question last year, but Cal grant A actually gave me more than Cal grant B which seemed to make no sense. A financial aid counselor suggested it might be because they have not increased the amount of Cal Grant B to what it should be.</p>
