Cali grading systems

<p>so im thinking about applying to schools in california
and im really confused how the grading system works to calculate my gpa</p>

<p>how would a school like UCSB or UCLA do it? </p>

<p>like for example, what would a B- be? Also, what would honors/AP courses be?</p>

<p>and what would be considered a GOOD gpa scores for those schools? </p>

<p>The UCs ignore plusses and minuses, so a B- is a 3.0. If you are OOS, the only weighted courses are AP/IB, which earn an extra point, so an A in an AP/IB course is a 5.0.</p>

<p>UCLA has a weighted mean gpa over 4.0, but that is mostly instate gpa’s which are higher than those calculated for OOS since instaters receive bonuse points for UC-approved honors courses. However, not-to-worry, since admissions takes into account the fact only AP/IB courses are weighted for OOS.</p>

<p>google ‘UC Statfinder’ and you can look up the stats by campus.</p>
