California Budget Cuts affecting UCLA

How badly will the Budget Cuts harm UCLA's Classes, Research budget, or financial aid packages?

Like all other UCs, it will affect UCLA pretty badly. UCLA has already canceled a large number of classes, reduced its faculty, raised student fees, and I’m pretty sure that there will be more to come.

But overall, UCLA is doing fairly well compared to other public schools (probably because of its location and the amount of donations from alumni and celebrities and etc).

A simple search brought this up:
[The Daily Bruin - Budget cuts constrain UCLA](http://dailybruin.ucla.edu/stories/2009/jun/22/budget-cuts-constrain-ucla/)

Oh, I read somewhere (I forgot) that HSSEAS is not being affected that much, is it true?

I didn’t really do a hardcore comparison between my estimated aid a few months ago and what my efan ended up being. Though Im pretty sure whatever I didn’t get through the calgrant I got from the “Scholarship Recognition Award”. They doubled that for me because of the budget cuts. I can’t really tell the difference in terms of what I DON’T have to pay.

I dont think that system can last for too long though. Our country might be this way for another year or two, and dishing out a few grand extra per student is a major blow to their finances.

I’d rather have my student fees significantly increase and have to take out more loans than have services/classes/faculty/etc drastically cut.

I wanted to take intro to physiology or anatomy (physci 3 and 13, respectively) for a life sci GE, but neither seem to be offered anymore. At least not this year, according to the schedule of classes. There are definitely a bunch of canceled classes.
