California CC to University of North Carolina Chapel Hill

Hey guys,

First time posting here. I'll be more than glad to chance you if you chance me. As I will discuss more below, I may be moving soon, so this is fairly urgent. I thank everyone who helps in advance.

I currently am in a California CC and want to apply to the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill this fall. I'm a business/econ major, and want to apply to their business school, but they say you have to do 1 semester in their liberal arts program before you can do that. So I'd be transferring to UNC as a JUNIOR, and based on what I've read, they won't need to see my high school stuff.

Community College Statistics:
- 56 quarter units (after 1 year)
- 3.85 GPA
- Honors Program
- Treasurer of a club
- I run my own business

What are my chances? If you need additional information, let me know and I'll definitely provide it

Would it be of any benefit to me if I were to move to North Carolina now, and complete my last year of CC there?

Once again, I'll chance if you chance! Thanks guys :)

bump, interested in this

Thanks for bumping, even though I only posted it like 20 minutes ago :stuck_out_tongue: Haha!

It would be better to have 2 years worth of college credits before transferring but I believe you still have a strong chance of gaining admission. IMO, there is NO point of moving to a North Carolina CC at this point.

Just out of curiosity, are you applying to any of the UC’s? If not is it because they require you to spend at least 2 years to complete the prereqs called IETG or TAg or something like that  lol

I wanted to apply for berkeley but their OOS is insanely high:(

Thanks :)

The only two reasons I thought it might be better to do 1 year of CC there are:

1) Possibly acquire residency and pay in state tuition? I have family that lives in NC. Not sure if that would work. Maybe someone here knows.

2) Higher chance of getting in if I live there?

In all honesty, my original plan was to go to a UC, but the reason I changed my mind? I had Berkeley in mind, and with all the classes you need for their business program (Haas), I’d have to be at CC for 3 years total. Not worth it in my opinion. Kenen-Flagler (UNC’s Business School) is equally credited (if not, it’s close) based on what I’ve heard. And on top of that, I just wanna get out of California. Not my scene here  Haha!
