Not all but a lot of illegals are using stolen/false/fake social security numbers, using fake identities committing numerous felonies. They know what they are doing is wrong.
All they wanted was a better life? Can I make that same argument for the bank robber who wants to feed his children or the drug dealer who is trying to support herself through college because she doesn’t qualify for financial aid… No I can’t. These people are breaking the law. Rules are rules.

I did not say that everyone has ancestors that fled to this country. I said that from every country, people have “fled.” Unfortunately, many countries have been victims of slavery. We’re not even talking about ancestors here. We’re talking about living people, right now. Also, it really doesn’t matter how “unlikely” the scenario is. There is a huge population of Asians living in America, including those from Pakistan and etc.If you were to go outside of your own safe social circle, you would know this. Now you just seem like a racist. SB1070 was made by people and for people like you who want to apply their racism subtly. Mexicans are not the only undocumented immigrants. The entire situation was just to show that it is HARD to be deported. If you ever had to go through that situation, you might care. But you won’t. So let’s just leave the conversation at that.

How dare you call me a racist. Just because I feel as if illegals are criminals and I don’t share your same skewed point of view. You said that “Technically, everyone here has ancestors who “fled” from their own country so stop trying to act like anything is owed to you just because you didn’t pull a shorter straw.” Which I clearly pointed out to you is not true, not everyone fled to America. The majority of illegals living in the United States are from Mexico and that is FACT.

Bank robbers are taking something without working for it. The majority of Illegals come to work. When the economy is bad and work is hard to find, they stop coming (that’s happening today). Bank robbers usually resort to violence or threat of violence, whereas illegals do not. But your right drug dealers and illegals are one in the same. One picks your fruit, cleans your house, mows your lawn, serves you food and the other sells you substances that can kill you. Yup, they are one in the same! Again, you need to think outside the box Mr. “Rules are Rules”.

Furthermore, alcohol and cigarettes kill people everyday. Why aren’t those drug dealers in jail? Oh, that’s right, because the “rules” say they’re cool. Whereas the pot dealer who sells a product that causes zero violent crime (unlike alcohol) is criminalizes and sent to prison, but I digress.

Yes, it is heart wrenching to deport people. It is very difficult to enforce the laws we have right now on immigration. If you have laws on the books, you have to enforce them or you cannot expect people to obey them. That we tantalize and tempt those who come and stay in this country illegally is not right. If you are not here legally, you do not get the privileges of those who are here legally. How else can you expect people to take the legal route?

There are many people in California and other states who have done things by the law book and are needy. Relief for them should come first. I haven’t been hearing a thing about extra money lying around that can be distributed. If anything, the funds going towards this subsidizing illegal immigrants’ benefits should be going towards a fund to get them legalized so that they can LEGALLY get these benefits. We are cutting our own selves doing this.

I doubt anyone would defend people who commit felonies. I do not support amnesty for ALL undocumented people. I’m being sympathetic to the good students who are facing an unfortunate situation.

Look at this video of Ivan Ceja. How can you not be sympathetic??? [GDLA Discussion: California Dream Act | Good Day LA](<a href=“FOX 11 Los Angeles”>FOX 11 Los Angeles)

I will use your exact words “…Only crime was to want a better life.”
-Bank robbers taking something without working for it, but there only crime was to want a better life.
-Drug dealers trying to make a decent amount of money, but there only crime was to want a better life.
-Illegals coming here illegally, but there only crime was to want a better life.
Yes, I can categorize illegals with other criminals because it doesn’t matter what your intentions are you are still committing a crime.

Good point cptofthehouse.

Of course you can compare “crimes” on a general level but the content of the crime is an important fact that you are ignorantly trying to avoid to make an “argument.” It’s completely ridiculous as many have pointed out to you who you have so blatantly ignored.

Ok Calimade, I think we clearly have come to an impasse. I analyze rules to see if they make sense because I KNOW that lawmakers don’t always represent my values or beliefs when legislating. You seem to accept rules without criticism or judgement. No progress will come from continued debate. Good day sir/ma’am.

It’s really sad how an individual who can think and form their own opinion about an issue instead of just agreeing with what seems like the majority of members on this college forum can be ostracized. It seems like 99.9% of you all are for illegals. I’m sure most of you would love amnesty, your entitled to your own opinion as I am entitled to mine. But, when you all clearly disregard the criminal acts that are being violated that’s a problem.

My history… wow okay. I have answer peoples questions, I’ve posted good topics for discussions, and I’ve been honest with my comments. Read my previous post maybe you’ll learn something.

Right. Anyway, good luck with your future endeavors. Truly.

This is such a difficult subject. I just really hate when people say things like “deport them all!”

The solution is not that simple. I’m done, have a good day all!

The problem with being a legal entity in the united states is that the government puts so many restrictions and conditions for legal stay. If you want to become a permanent resident, sometimes you are forced out of the country for up to 10 years. Now, if you have lived here for the majority of your thinking life, would you want to leave the land you grew up on for 10 years??
Let’s see, another point. The legalization of marijuana. How many people were so against it when they saw it as the devil’s cigarette, yet when it became legal, they were suddenly flocking to it like it was honey? The problem is people focus on the bad stuff because it is deemed illegal, and therefore, do not care to look at the positive side of things. Some say that were free riding, but keep in mind that a lot of benefits are not bestowed upon us, and we have to pay full price for many of the things American citizens get for free or a reduced price.
Also, we give back to the economy. From personal experience, we spent a lot of our money on electronics and such, so we are giving back, even in times of need when other people are suffering because of the economy. Truth is, a lot of people don’t know how to manage money, and that is how they get ****ed by the economy. Oh, and my family pays taxes, so you can not say that’s its because we don’t pay taxes.
