"I wouldn't be surprised if UCSD surpassed USC in the rankings over the next decade."

-ucsd was ranked higher than usc in the early 2000's, then usc caught up and slightly surpassed ucsd, and now they are 2 spots apart according to us news. every other academic ranking i have ever seen has ucsd ranked significantly higher than usc.

Honestly, it is stupid to throw around different ranking lists each using different methodology, etc. What matters most is which place is a better fit.

hahaha that ranking has uc santa barbara and uc santa cruz in front of ucsd. come on man. it also has usc in front of ucla. im talking about repuatable national and international rankings, Times Higher, Shanghai Jiao Tong Top 500, ect. Hell even washignton monthly's ranking is better than that ranking you came up with. i agree i feel both are great schools, however i stated i felt academically ucsd is a better university. i backed it up by stating it had more highly ranked programs. the schools are very close in overall quality, therefore one should choose which school fits them better. you can agree or disagree. its doesnt matter to me.

i agree with your post flopsy, other than cal poly pomona doesnt belong with cal poly slo, uci ucsb, and uc davis. i believe cal poly pomona is even ranked lower than sdsu and csulb.

I would almost agree with flopsy, but we're talking about prestige here...please tell me how UCR and UCM are more prestigious than pepperdine, USD, SDSU, even the claremont schools....Merced has been around for a year and they send acceptances to just about anyone and their mom!

How is Cal Poly Pomona more prestigious than San Diego State?
Or UC Merced for that matter, Its amazing how much prestige its gained in an entire year. SDSU has been around 100 years. Here are some facts you may not have been aware of...

SDSU had 56,000 applicants for 7,000 spots. For enrolled freshmen an average GPA of 3.6 GPA and an 1110 on the SAT for 2006.

International Business program is ranked 7th in the nation

SDSU has the 5th best passing rate on the CPA (certified public accountant) exam

Its recognized by nasdaq as a top 20 center of excellence for business

I'm not sure about any other programs aside from Communications, SDSU has the flagship comm program for all the CSU's.
