did anyone get a call from the financial aid dept. at UCB? the lady asked if I’ve done my fafsa yet and cal grant and asked me if I was interested in scholarship websites. Do you think this call means anything? or is the financial aid dept and the admissions dept. two seperate things so this doesnst hint at anything?

The Financial Aid Office and Office of Undergraduate Admissions are two separate offices and they do not coordinate in terms of admission; except for of course if you've been accepted and the financial aid office needs to send your financial aid office.

I hate to be blunt but, it is an unrealistic vision for anyone who received a call that he or she is being favored in any way. The Financial Aid Office has absolutely nothing to do with admission decisions and no one should mistake any form of communication--short of the actual acceptance letter--that there is any likelihood you've been admitted, have a great chance of being admitted, or have a great chance of earning scholarships.

Stop getting your hopes up and trying to figure out any hidden messages; the decision will come and when it does, you'll know for sure. No point in wasting your time trying to figure out the motives of Berkeley's admission committee.

...He didn't even state that he hoped this was a shoe-in. You are overreacting eiffel.

I also got a call, but they never pick up when I call them.

cmaher: eiffel was just reponding to the OP's last two points.

california83: They are just courtesy calls to applicants with no bearing on your admission decision (they know as much of your chances of getting in as you do- nothing).

I got one last week.
