do you think there’s still a chance of acceptance?

Ehh, i wouldn’t really count on it.

I auditioned for Mason Gross at LA Unifieds on Feb 12th. Didn’t get a same-day call back. The woman at the check-in table assured everybody that same-day callbacks don’t mean anything whatsoever. Nobody from my hour was called back, and on my way out, I asked about on-campus auditions, and she said that not getting an on-campus call back is a pretty good indication that you are not under further consideration. Who knows though. It seems like everyone of their administrative faculty has different info to offer.

But WHO has gotten an on campus callback this year? Usually on CC, people will post if they get a callback to share the good news, or will post if their friend got good news, or a friend of a friend.

So far I haven’t seen ANYONE who has posted they got an on campus Rutgers callback. Has anyone gotten one? Thanks for sharing if you did.

Yes, thanks hoveringmom…have not heard of anyone being invited…just wondering

S invited to Rutgers call-back weekend. Notified by phone followed up by email. Email indicated class would be selected from those invited to the weekend. He auditioned in Chicago and was also called back there. Hope this helps.

How recently did he get his call?

Received call on 2/15/12

mets1962 Thank you so much for clearing that up. I knew it all along. My D is probably going to add on another school and take Rutgers off. I will let her make that decision.

Yes, thanks for posting. It’s as we thought. I really don’t understand the point of their campaign of disinformation.

Congratulations, Mets1962! Even getting the call-back was quite an accomplishment. Best of luck to your son.

Congrats, Mets1962! And thanks for posting. Bets of luck to your son during the callback weekend!

mets, it would be helpful if you could share the dates for the callback weekend so that we have that information here for future cycles.

Callback is this upcoming weekend, Sat and Sun. Students can also stay Mon for classes.

Thank you, mets! I’m sure everyone here who is waiting in this cycle, and those who will be looking for an answer next time, appreciate your contribution. A big break-a-leg to your son this weekend!

congrats!! I emailed Barbara hawanko, and she clearly states back to me, in italicized print that just because you didn’t get a callback for the weekend DOES NOT mean your rejected from the program. im utterly confused!

At this point, I have to presume that no call-back means no chance. Mason Gross has a legendarily low acceptance ratio, and we knew it was a very long shot under any circumstances. I believe that my son is talented, but not so prodigious that they wouldn’t want to compare him with others in the call-back pool. There might be some obscure circumstances under which the lack of a call-back doesn’t mean certain rejection, but I doubt that ours are among them.

emailed rutgers today and got same email back that still being considered

Regarding the Rutgers call back policy: I auditioned for Mason Gross on Feb 12th in Los Angeles. They asked to see 2 additional pieces and we talked for a good 10 minutes about the program. I felt like both the audition and “interview” portions went really well. I didn’t get invited to any call backs, and I’m sure there were many others that were asked to present additional material who also did not get any callbacks… It just makes me think… what if they actually just saw what they needed to see from those applicants? I don’t think it’s a sure fire sign that we’re out of the running. Not yet, at least. I’m not counting on getting in by any means, but I haven’t completely written it off as a definite “no” yet either.

csheakay, I had an extremely similar audition experience on-campus. They had me audition in both rooms (I’m not sure how this even worked… I was caught off-guard when one of the freshmen asked if I was ready to audition again) and my interview went for a good 10 or 15 minutes as well. I know well enough not to read into any of this, but I also don’t think it should be written off as an absolute “no”, like you said.
