Called

I had initially considered JHU, but there were a lot of comments in college review books, online statistics, etc. about the environment at JHU (cutthroat, dangerous, etc.) and that not many classes turn small until the 3rd year. Hence, I didn't apply. A faculty member from JHU called me recently about applying, but I was wondering what makes JHU differ from other universities (especially those that can offer small, indept discussion classes)?

Wow, it has been a month since one of these postings! Everyone knows how much I love the myths of Hopkins posts. I actually think there is some College Confidential conspiracy that gets people to log-in to the JHU board every month like clockwork to post these messages.

READ THE OLD THREADS -- all of your questions will be answered.

Oh and by the way, the deadline is January 1st.

Laxfan04 I actually have no idea what you are talking about. I was not creating myths or fabricating lies (Sorry, I'm not sure whether you're referring to the questions I asked about JHU or about JHU calling). I was called by, as I was told, a faculty member of the Biology Dept. at JHU, last night concerning my interest in JHU as a possible college next year. I had told the caller I hadn't applied to JHU, but he mentioned some sort of priority application that has a later deadline. However, I'm not sure how true that is since I can't find any information about such applications on JHU's website. Any info?

First, yes I was talking about your comments about JHU (cuthroat, dangerous, etc.) -- if you read old threads you would have seen that these topics have come up NUMEROUS times, and current JHU students like myself have commented about these myths.

As far as a faculty member calling you, that just sounds sketchy to me. In my two years working in the Admissions office I have never heard of faculty calling prospective applicants just two or three days before the application deadline. I am not saying you are not telling the truth, it just doesn't not sound like something that has the official Admissions seal of approval.

And no, there is no "priority" application with a later deadline.

laxfan, for online applications is the deadline 12:59 E.S.T. on Dec. 31 or 12:59 E.S.T. on Jan. 1?

anyone know if you can do paper supplement instead of online supplement?

^^I don't see why not...

actually i did an online app and sent a paper supplement, and they never received it. so i went back and sent the supplement online.
