Calling all 2008 Transfers!

I've narrowed down my list now to a respectable 6 schools.

Swarthmore
Haverford
Reed
Brown
NYU
Pitt

I'm a bit worried though because I think I may have put my Calc I summer course grade at a B over all with my last test. I really hate summer class. Due to personal sircumstances, I did poorly on my last test (Mid-C range I believe) and I'm freaking out a little bit.

Current College: Santa Monica College (CC) Scholars Program

What I want to Major/Minor in:

Major - English
Minor - Psychology

Applying for Fall 2008 transfer admission to:

University of Southern California (USC)
Pomona College
Claremont McKenna College
Occidental College
Washington University in St. Louis
Tulane University
Emory University (maybe, maybe not)

High School GPA: 2.9 unweighted (took 3 AP's). My school was next to impossible; I attended a private college prep school. I ended up getting into Santa Clara University, University of the Pacific, and CSUN, but I wasn't happy with those options so I enrolled at SMC.

Expected SMC GPA: 3.6 or higher

Almost forgot, I'm going to be in Phi Theta Kappa, and I took 3 UCLA courses while in high school and I did really well in them so I'll include that transcript along with my hs and cc transcripts for all those apps.

Just wondering, how big of a role does the SAT play in transfer admission? Let's say you get a really high gpa, somewhere around 3.7-4.0, but, if you're like me, got a 1720 out of 2400 on the SAT in high school. Will that significantly hurt me in gaining admission to the aforementioned schools?

you're applying as a freshman right? if so, retake it..or try the ACT.

I'm applying as a sophomore to the above schools.

i meant i'm applying for sophomore admission to those schools while in freshman year.

Current: Pasadena City College
GPA: 4.0
Major: Economics or Business
Applying to:
UCLA, UCSD, UCB, USC, NYU, UIB Kelley, Stanford, Ohio State, Columbia and may be other schools that I haven't thought of. =D good luck to you all

Ireds4life: then retake it.........

Are all of you SURE you want to go to NYU? It's not that great.

Try to find other good schools.

what do you dislike about it FBI?

racnna: ok...........i'll retake it...............................................................

.....................

go.........................study................for...............it..............now...............

I'm going to RPI this fall but want to transfer to MIT as a sophomore. my senior year grades kept me out of MIT for freshman admission. I had such a good chance and I messed it up. I'm a URM with good stats and I went to the MITES program...they wanted me but they saw my grades and waitlisted/ultimately rejected me. but I still want to go there after I show them my freshman grades at RPI. they'll see. I currently can't decide if I should retake the SAT since I might end up scoring lower yet again. I took it four times. went up from the first to second, then down and down again meaning all my highest scores were on the second out of four tries. it looks really bad and if I take it a fifth time, that's bad just for taking it that many and even worse if I score worse again (I'm not in the mode to take it again) so...Idk.

help!

well I recently discovered what a resource C.C. is so I feel like I have some support with getting into MIT just by being a member of these forums.

I have a whopping 11 credits completed at VA CC. This coming year will be my last semesters at a CC no matter what!!

Calc I - A
CIS - A
Eng 101 -A

I'd be thrilled to attend one of the following universities in the fall of 08 :

USC
UVA
VA Tech
UNC
UMD

I did poorly in HS and on the SAT, so any advice on how to boost my chances would be appreciated. MY CC is really easy so I'm shooting for straight A's.. Oh and my major is accounting..

Cal - UC Berkeley

Mcgill
University of British columbia
William and Mary
University of Michigan
UVA
VT

Adam412 - I'd throw WashU back in there just for kicks. Apply as early as possible (February 15th) with good stats and you have a nice shot at an acceptance to a top school. WashU seems to be a really well kept secret and I'm pretty sure over half of the people on College Confidential that applied this year were accepted, even though the overall transfer admission rate is in the low 20s. Of course, things may change as they keep getting more applicants and become more selective, but it's definitely worth applying EARLY as you show a lot of interest and may be smiling with an acceptance in hand two months before any other school sends them out.

brand are you going to wesleyan or wustl this fall?

NYU Stern, UNC, George Washington, USC

Possibly: Northwestern, Georgetown

Major: Finance or Economics

Current School: North Carolina State

I was rejected from Columbia, Northwestern and USC and wait listed/rejected by NYU for freshman admission.
