<p>Today, instead of wondering about what our plebes are doing, I am baking cookies- dozens and dozens of them- and I am sending one to our son, and the rest into care boxes for the Chaplins to deliver to mids that need them....I have decided to send 5 of those after much loving encouragement from Jamzmom- who no doubt has adopted every stray mid at Kings Point- so that is my mission for today.</p>

<p>And I am seeking your help. I was just informed there are MANY kids who get NO SUPPORT from home in any form- and I am sad beyond words- so I would like your collective help in doing something productive for these kids!</p>

<p>By now you have all received the letter from the Chaplins asking for an extra care package to be sent- so how about it? Are you all up to the challenge of "no mid left behind?"</p>

<p>Peskemom- if you are out there with those morsels of famous Peske cookies, how about joining me in this campaign of "adopt-a-Mid?" Maybe even Zaphod can do some slice-and-bake cookies with his little girls to deliver too! Maybe we can get all of our posters to contribute one box each! And Bill and Boss- if ya can't bake, just pack some granola bars and beef jerkey and a few other goodies in a box and send it along! And Cnp55: know you are headed to the Big C, but before he goes, you can have some fun with us too! (I can send you the address!....just no doggie bones!!!)</p>

<p>LETS DO THIS!!! JM is already way ahead of us......she has sent more packages than her posts on CC!!! If she can get her whole town baking, we can get our CC posters to do the same!!!</p>

<p>So here's the deal: the Chaplins need the packages by July 11th (at the yard)....means we need to mail at least 5 days before that....so by July 6th....DO POST how many you are able to send- your goal is ONE for each poster- and we can keep a running count like the kids did for their company and platoon listing!</p>

<p>Zaphod_ thanks for the head's up! of course we can send them "from a fellow Plebe's parent" as the chaplins suggest!</p>

<p>And you can so bake!!! Toll house makes pre-made cookies- just thaw, seperate the squares, put on a baking dish, and in 12 minutes you have 2 dozen toll-house chocolate chip cookies!!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!! YOU ARE AN ENGINEER AND A GRADUATE OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY!!!! NO TASK IS BEYOND YOU!!!</p>

<p>The chaplins suggest including a few words of encouragement....and I am going to add to that to support your mid's company- annonoumously of course! But address your package (in the bottom left corner) to XX Company / XX Platoon)....that way we can be sure the packages reach a mid in each company!!!! </p>

<p>Please copy and paste the following list as you join us in pledging a care package!!! Lets get each one covered!!! If your mid's company/platoon is already pledged, then pick another one!!</p>

<p>The chaplains suggest:
rice krispy bars, power bars, granola bars, fruit bars, dried fruit, salted peanuts, almonds, mixed nuts, HOME MADE COOKIES, twizzlers, hard candy, cans of fruit/applesauce/single-serve tuna (pop-top cans only), cup-o-soup, beef jerkey, mole skin for blisters, masking tape, assorted bandages, spray sunscreen, unscented antibacterial soap, cleaning supplies, white school claulk, shout wipes and bleach pens, white-out, febreeze clean, lint-free cotton rags and cloths.</p>

<p>I just packed 2 boxes- and I pledge to fill in 3 more "Slots" that remain unclaimed as of 7/5.......</p>

<p>This is how we can ALL HELP our mids....and their team!!! Lets show them that our time on CC has not been in idol persuit......our collective effort can contribute something meaningful, and I welcome your support for ALL OUR KIDS!!!</p>

<p>This month NAVY....next month ARMY....then USMMA....then USAFA....then USCGA......or in any order you wish!!! (someone please help and get us addresses!!) </p>

<p>This is going to be GREAT!!! Zaphod- get your ovens fired up!!! If you can't bake, then shop!!! send extra soap!!! get your girls to color a picture for a MID!!!!! </p>

<p>Ha ha navy2010 I have 272 swabs of '10 to take care of first including one we're picking up at the airport today. Good luck in this worthwhile endeavor and I'll try to send one in when I get a free sec. Great job! :D</p>

<p>Count me in! My other DD (the Marine) and her boyfriend (also Marine) are visiting this weekend. If I can keep them out of the cookie dough, I should be able to get some in the mail tomorrow or Wednesday. </p>
