For those of you who transferred to Notre Dame University, what was your record like? what EC's did you have and what was your GPA?

talk to irish68178, he'd probably be the best help...or look back through at some of the posts over the past month or so, he's mentioned the transfer process and a little about his experience in threads when this has come up in the past.

Hey futuredoctor, how are you? I am not sure if you are the one who IMed me the other day or not but I will post a bit about my stats anyways. This just further makes me realize that I really need to make a website on transferring to ND and I will do that hopefully this weekend as the deadlines are approaching!

Keep in mind that I transferred a few years ago so the bar is a bit higher now. I attended Creighton University in Omaha, NE and took exactly the classes ND wanted me to take. That is key for any transfer, one of the first things they look for is if you have matched the First Year of Studies. To know if you are in the right classes you can email Transfer admissions.

Anyways, my first semester was a struggle and I ended up with a C in Calculus and a 3.1 GPA overall. I bounced back second semester and got a 3.9 which got my average to just a bit over a 3.5 GPA. 3.5 in the past years seems to be the magic number but it may have moved up to 3.6. If you are above a 3.6 and have the right classes, however, you are going to have a pretty good chance at it (depending on the school you are coming from).

I honestly don't think the EC's really helped me but I had a lot of service, I was part of the Freshman Leadership Program at Creighton, and I was a active member of both Right to Life as well as College Republicans.

I hope that gives you a general sense of my story. Please feel free to get in touch for more specifics and I will try to remember to throw together a website that should hopefully answer your transfer questions.

Irish, I chuckled when you said you transferred a few years ago - how time flies when you're having fun! It really has only been months - 1 and a half years to be exact.

You bring so much to this forum, so don't mind if I tease you a little. Are we all sitting together for the Sunday JPW brunch?

It does seem longer than it has been. I have talked to my roommate about it (he transferred in this year) and he is amazed at how long it seems he has been here too. When I think back on it it seems like this is the only place I have been to school, Creighton seems like years ago as does high school. Also, a lot of my friends are seniors so that impacts it some as well I think.

Yet, a lot has actually changed in transfer admissions so some of it is true. I do have to admit that I am not as old of a man as I think sometimes but there is significant change since I applied. I hope I would still get in if I applied this year, I think I would, but I was a bit iffy back then. It is just funny thinking back and then looking at my ND GPA....who would have thought my grades would greatly improve by coming to ND. I know my Dad was scared that they would drop because I no longer had the goal but I think that I still have the drive but I just got rid of the pressure.

Anyways, as far as I know we are on for JPW. I know that I sent your son my ID number and all and he said that he registered for it so we should be good to go! I look forward to seeing you guys; it has been an awful long time! Also thanks for your compliment. You add a lot to the boards here and I am always glad to see you still be around here, even when you are correcting me :). You help around here an awful lot and I know we all appreciate it.
