I'm a freshman at a top 100 LAC. I'm wondering what chances I have at a top 40 university, really want to go to Notre Dame. Anyway, here are my stats:

Me:
- black male
- Catholic
- Michigan resident

High school:
-3.7 gpa
- captain of both basketball and soccer
- lots of volunteer service
- low ACT score, just took it once and got a 21(should I retake it)

College stats:
- 3.4 gpa
- volunteer at public school every week to mentor
- College republicans
- IM basketball
- IM football
- IM soccer
- I also worked out of with the basketball team for about two months before getting cut.

I'm expecting a 3.4, I still have another semester for that to go up or down, but assuming it stays there what top 40 schools would I have a good shot at?

well, not Ivies, and maybe not some of the top publics, but anything in the upper 20s on...you never know, so apply wherever you would want to attend

I went into detail on this on the ND board but you can't just look at the GPA like you can for a lot of other schools with Notre Dame. Notre Dame requires certain classes and only accepts transfers into certain majors which complicates things. Since I know it is confusing, I put a website together which has been approved by over 20 Notre Dame transfers, including myself :). It is at www.nd.edu/~mnadorff/transfer.

I just thought I would post over here to let you know that ND is a bit different. I will try to hang over here a bit more but usually I relegate myself to the ND board.
