If i have a question to ask them, would I have to leave my name or would it be anonymous? How would I go about introducing myself and asking the question? Would they keep a record of me contacting them?

You would only have to give your name if you need to leave a message and be called back. If you get someone to ask (likely), just say that you are a student interested in applying and have a question. No, they don’t keep records, they’re too busy and don’t care about phone contacts, just actual applications.

Actually, I’ve heard that some colleges keep track of the number of times an applicant calls, visits, etc. so as to evaluate their interest in said school. Anyone heard of this & which universities this applies to?

Visits are very different from calls. Some schools do track interest when students come for tours, others don’t care. There are numerous threads about colleges that track interest, use the Search function to find them.

About calling, they don’t keep track of every student that calls to ask an admissions question. It’s different if you’re calling to talk to a coach about sports recruiting, a URM calling to talk to a minority admissions person, etc. Those types of calls might be kept track of, but that’s not what the OP was referring to.
