calling current ucla students: just got regents invite today...good sign?

Can anyone here actually access their Regents App? Mine always says there is a system error when I try to go to the website.

yeah I think a few hundred get offered the scholarship and maybe 100-200 actually decide to take it.

quite the loser!

Also got the letter in SoCal. And I also haven't been able to access the website.

if you cant access the app, it means you did not qualify for regents.

sowwy.

happened to my friend.

zzzboy, i think you're wrong.

rude person, it says 800 invited, 100 receive scholarship

UCLA Financial Aid Office-Scholarship Office

That doesn't make sense. They sent a letter with a url. When you go to the website it says:

Sorry, we are currently experiencing systems problems. Please close and quite the Application, and try again later.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I doubt they printed two versions of the letter, one with a fake url for people that didn't qualify.

i think im not being serious

That occurred to me, but I posted anyway since it was a convenient excuse to copy&paste the error message

I was invited last year, and i am currently writing this reply in my dorm at ucla.

I advise you to truly take your time when writing your essay. Last year, I forgot about it until the day it was due, and I did it while I was drunk and faded. This was not a good combination, and of course I didn't get regents. I regret this now looking at the benefits they get. So take it seriously, and even if you don't get it, be honored to know that you were at the top of the incoming class.

azngamer54, how bad did your essays end up being?

thiscouldbeheaven, the link's not working for me either.

my essays were pretty bad too, but i ended up getting it. for me it was probably stats driven..cant say how it is for others.

i wrote mine in the airport when i was traveling for a med interview program somewhere >.>. it was all bs.

ThisCouldBeHeavn, your post made me LOL'd.
Anyway, I can access the application. I've had no errors today or yesterday. This might sound stupid, but did you put, "https://"? That was my error initially. Or, try accessing it on a different browser.

If you don't put the s you get a different error.

And now that I switched to IE it does work.

lol because youre prospective regents scholars they are testing your intelligence.

is this based off of psat scores? I have a feeling it may be, cuz I screwed up my PSATs but did alright on the SATs

Didn't get the letter nevertheless. I think this is possibly a national merit thing...

nah i screwed up psat but did well on sat like you. it says top 1.5% chosen from applicant pool, whatever that means.

Are out-of-staters eligible for the regents scholarship? Im sure that most of the regents scholars will be from California...

The link isn't working for me either. Odd...

it's working now. i had no idea it was "https"

You have to type it exactly the way they give it to you.

I wonder, for people who don't receive the letter, if they enter the competition by going to that website, will they get away with it?
