I just want to make sure everyone is aware that ridethecliche is a first-year student at Wesleyan University, NOT Lafayette College. If you know anything about Wesleyan, his comments shouldn't come as a surprise.

Lafayette does not have any "clothing optional" residence hall options. I apologize if that's what you're looking for in a college.

Nakedness is SO overrated. I'll stick with clothing myself each morning.

Ricegal,
My son's a freshman at Lafayette. Despite my best attempts to influence his packing each time he's been home, he's left most of what I consider his "nicer" clothes at home in favor of simple (not collared) tees, hooded sweatshirts, gym shorts, sweats, jeans and sneakers. The funny thing is that he dressed less casually in high school (i.e. sweats and gym shorts were only for gym class then). From what I've observed, you see a range of clothing choices at Lafayette and the kids dress in whatever style they feel most comfortable. However I have to say that I have yet to see a "popped" collar at Lafayette. Now at Bucknell that's another story!

ridethecliche,
I use the term bohemian loosely. She is a very unusual dresser - totally her own style. Self expression is very important to her. She is a fine arts major, sings in a band (does lots of charity concerts) and loves eastern religion - a religion minor. That is all I meant. But the school is filled with Prada/Gucci students. Whatever - she has enjoyed her experience and the diversity. And has been able to express her individuality - no judgement from her or about her from her classmates.

But if any Marquis scholars are looking to visit Laff, I recommend that you talk to Justin. He's a really awesome and helpful soul and gives one of the best darn tours ever!

I saw this thread when I Googled Marquis Scholarship.

My son has committed to Lafayette and is eligible for a Marquis Scholarship. All I have been able to find out about when students learn whether or not they get one is "March" or "early March". I did see one student who said she found out on 3/14, but some postings here indicate it may have been later.

I tried calling Financial Aid at Lafayette on Friday but the snowstorm up there closed the office.

So, the question is, has the date by which one would be notified if they received a Marquis scholarship come and gone?

I ended up poring through the Financial Aid folder that came in the mail and it said that if he were going to get one, it would have been noted in his final Financial Aid offer (which came on 3/12).

Just out of curiousity, is that how your daughter found out, through the final aid award letter?
