Calls from Admissions Officers this Week...

Hey all, just wondering if anyone had gotten a call from their area's admissions officer at UPenn. I got one Monday evening and have been wondering whether it was a good or bad thing....

I'd love to know if anyone else had been called, and if not, I'd love to know what you guys thought of it....good, bad, or no big deal?

What did the admission’s officer want?

Do you really not have the discernment to distinguish whether the call was auspicious or not?

Just why I picked the major I did, how many times I’d been there. It was a brief call but I wasn’t expecting it at all.

And no I don’t, apparently.

To me, it sounds like they were making some last-minute decisions…

I apologize for my overly caustic comment above…I’m just a little nervous with decisions being tomorrow and such.

“overly caustic”

“auspicious”

learn to chat dude. it doesnt make you look smart.

definitely a good thing hahaha.
i remember my guidance counselor at middle school saying that they received a call from andover (boarding school) asking why i had so many absences
two days after i found out i was accepted :)

Learn to punctuate and capitalize, dude. It might make you look a little smarter.

Lol, never heard of admissions calling applicants but who knows.

Did you have an alumni interview? If not, maybe that was why they called

i agree with powerbomb’s second comment: i think they were making a last minute decision, between maybe a group of 2 or 3 applicants, and wanted to make the decision between defer and accept.

and btw, this is a chat… you don’t need to capitalize, punctuate, have proper grammar, or anything. just leave that alone.

And I’m also free to use the words “auspicious” and “caustic.”

Yes, I did have an alumni interview…I really am at a loss as to why they would call me, especially so close to decisions coming out…all of what you guys have said does make sense…so I don’t know…hopefully it’s something good. lol.

oh and I def am really nervous about tomorrow too, I understand, no worries =]

Maybe it was a prank call by one of your friends…that would be hilarious. Cruel, but hilarious

Oh definitely wasn’t- that would be absolutely terrible!!! I’m just hoping it doesn’t mean i’ve been like, totally eliminated from the heap of applicationsss.

I’m pretty sure it’s a good sign. The people who are saying it’s a prank is probably just anxious, which is perfectly understandable. Good luck to all.

I’m just curious… What is your declared major? In my opinion, I think the call is probably a good thing–the way I see it, it’s a very favorable situation that they are still talking about you.

It was biomedical science. No one else I’ve talked to has even heard about this whole calling buisness so who knows. I can only hope for the best- nothing I can do now.

yes, powerbomb, you should also be free to use whatever words you want from “hi” to “antidisestablishmentarianism”.
