Calm before the "Storm"

<p>Oldfort, not as pathetic as you might think: for D's school and several others in the area, you book your hotel for graduation 11 months in advance if you're smart. Four day minimum, no refunds. (Maybe it's only three days...but I think it's four.)</p>

<p>Lurknessmonster, I had to laugh when I read your post. <g> Yesterday, I went to the admission's page of one of my son's schools, wanting to find a phone number and call with a general question ... didn't know if we needed to send midterm grades or not. Never having been through this before, I'm so afraid I'll miss something I was supposed to do. (For instance, I didn't know we had to request at our high school that transcripts be sent to schools. Mistakenly, I thought the GC's did that when they sent their stuff they had to send.) Anyway, I decided to stop by his "status" page while I was there, knowing, of course, there'd be no change ... but hoping. And there was ... a change, I mean. Transcripts had already been sent on the 19th. So, of course, I'm calling my husband, "So, does that mean he hasn't been unilaterally stuffed in the discard can? Right? Right!! He's, at the very least, still being looked at?" Probably totally automatic on their part, but I had visions of them requesting his transcripts (we've always figured he'd be on the bubble at this school) because his essays just knocked their socks off. <g> My S, when he got home from school, was like, "cool," and onto IM'ing friends about a lacrosse game. "What, no excitement?!" I fumed. "No, you still might be in the mix?!!" "Whatever," was his reply. "If I get in, it's 50/50 on whether I'll go there. I'm thinking about the other school now, too." </g></g></p>

<p>My head bangs against the counter, trying to keep up with it all. Sigh ...</p>
