I ve heard that people in the east have pretty much never heard of calpoly, and that its not very wellknown outside of CA, but what about places like Arizona and Washington?(Namely Phoenix and Seattle)
It has a good reputation for a number of majors.
Perhaps a bit like people on the west coast don’t hear much about RIT.
Good schools both.
No offense to RIT, but CP has a national reputation for Architecture, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science.
But will employers in say Seattle know about CO prestige? I ve heard that it only has a good reputation in CA, was wondering if that applied to Washington and Arizona too.
It depends on what employers you are talking about. Microsoft, Amazon and Boeing all recruit at Cal Poly. For smaller employers you will have to do more ground work on your own. Most employers in Washington will know of CP and will hold it in high regard.
@YellowTiger Yes. In discussions with a recruiter from one of the world’s larger software enterprises (based in Seattle), I found out that CalPoly is one of his first stops.
I can confirm from a first hand source. CalPoly SLO is a school all big tech firms in WA state interview at and hire from. In general, very good reputation on the west coast.
