Hi

I was given a conditional transfer offer for fall 2014 at CALS, for the biological sciences major. One of the course requirements prior to transferring in is a year of intro bio at the current university. The school I am at does not allow students to take a class in which they placed out of using AP scores (I got a 5 on the AP). The school also does not allow students to waive or forfeit AP credits..essentially, they force you into placing out, even if Bio is your intended major. As a freshman, it is almost impossible to get into the upper level bio classes, since upperclassmen have registration priority. Thus, those classes are always filled. I will have completed the chemistry and calculus requirements, and I will also be taking one or more writing classes next semester. However, I am wondering how Cornell would view my situation regarding the Bio classes. My currently school is known for having many kids transfer to CALS, with many of those kids being bio majors, so I know it is not impossible. Can anyone give me any insight regarding this situation, especially if you are or know someone who has transferred into CALS as a bio major? Thank you
