CALS/arts and sciences Question

if one is accepted into the college of arts and sci, can one take courses in CALS or the other schools at one's whim?

Yes, you can take credits in other schools, but there is definitely a required amount that you must take in Arts and Sciences if you're a student there.

you can take any course at cornell, regardless of college, as long as you have filled the prerequisites.

Anyone at cornell can take classes in any college.

I believe, the only restriction is students in the state-assisted schools can only take a certain number of credits in the endowed colleges, after which you can still take the course, but you have to pay a certain fee per credit. Although, they do give you a lot of credits you can use at the endowed colleges. I think bio majors in CALS are an acception to this, because they have to take a lot of courses through arts and sciences.

But, if you're in arts and sciences. . .you can take as many courses in other schools as you would like to take. Just make sure you're signed up for classes that meet your major requirments too!
