CalSO Impressions Thread

is there any point in going to the calso dates in july for transfers? Or can one already register for the classes by that time.

You don't get to SEE your pic and get to change if you don't like it???? Are they not doing digital? Geez, you can even get the pic changed at the DMV!

They usually show it to you and ask you if it's fine. If not, and you're not satisfied with it, try asking them if you can get a retake. If worse comes to worst, you can always "lose" your Cal 1 card and get another one, along with a new picture!

I am going to the one day transfer Calso on the 21st. Since I plan on showing up the day before, can I just walk in and have my picture taken a day early so as to save time for other things on the actual Calso day?

I don't think so...CalSO doesn't plan anything else during the Cal 1 card event anyway so you won't miss anything.

Thanks vicissitudes.

Really? They didn't show any of us at our CalSO :(

i was a part of calSO and my picture was shown to me as well. however, i believe thats because i got my cal 1 card a day early when there was nobody else getting theirs. when its busy they probably wont show you the picture.

ccbound, I did the same thing. The Cal1 pic was scheduled this morning and there was a great big line to get in and get the picture. I walked over there at lunch yesterday and there was no one other than one guy having his picture taken, and they retook the pic three times, very nice of them, when I asked. The third one was PERFECT.

i'm going to calso for transfers thursday.

do i really need to bring a copy of my transcript and major requirements? i already know what i've fulfilled and what i want to take. is the transcript just for myself, or do i actually need to show it to anyone first before registering for classes?

Beatchick, what building should I go to if I want to try and get the picture taken early?

My counselor let us get our ID's on the first day, so just wait to see if your's does this or maybe you can ask him/her.

You're having lunch and looking at clubs and stuff above the student store. Cal 1 is about 100 feet straight down from there. If you go down the stairs to the student store, walk thru the store to the other side, and turn left. Go down the brick stairs and voila, there is is with the big CAL 1 signs all over it. It's next to the student learning center -- very easy to find. Just bring i.d. You've got spare time that first lunch day anyway, just eat fast and get down there.

I forgot to add that I thought the program was really helpful, or as I guess they say hela helpful, whatever.

Hella NorCal.

Anyway, Calso was pretty good. The schedule advising was helpful and I met a lot of cool people. Food around Berkeley is fantastic. Asian Ghetto FTW.
