I mean, I don't think they should have asked us for as much as $260 or have the program carry overnight, but it was a definitely exciting experience. Made many new friends.

In light of this, I created a group that you guys can join. The group is called CalSO - June 7/8 and you can search it up on FaceBook.

This is so Berkeley people can add new friends easier from CalSO that they met on June 7, 8. Encourage or invite all the people that you know who attended on that date to join! Btw, you must be in the Berkeley network to be a member.

Anyways, I'm really looking forward to come to Berkeley now. Really.

I brought pretty much what the program confirmation(CalSO email/msg) told me to bring-- all stuff that could fit lightly in a backpack. That msg was pretty complete in terms of needed items…the only essentials it left off were a toothbrush and possibly toothpaste(I had to ask others if I could use some of theirs). Bedding, a pillow, and towels are provided for you, so nope, you don’t need a sleeping bag.

I went to CalSO June 4/5, and I agree, it was awesome! Granted some parts were boring, but for the most part I had a good time and I’m sad that it’s over :(

I’m attending CalSO on June 11th. I come from Canada, so should I come with a mini-suitcase? Do we leave stuff in the residence rooms during CalSO?

I recommend carrying two bags, one with extra clothes, toothbrush and stuff whatever you need to prepare for the night, and a smaller, light backpack with maybe a notebook/pencil if you are the type that likes to take notes. Oh and water since it was sorta hot when I went. That way you can leave your clothes and such in the room while carrying around a light backpack. There is a tour so you really don’t want to be lugging around some heavy thing and if it’s hot you’ll want water.

Oh and a photo ID is required for you to get your Cal 1 card. You need your student ID too but the counselors have those. Try to get all your scheduling stuff planned beforehand, and come with any questions, because you don’t get that much time with actual college counselors (besides the student ones) and a lot of people are usually asking them stuff.

Lol the only thing I recommend is don’t take you calcard pic if u dont feel like u look good that day! Mine turned out to be horrible and I’m not just sayin that cause everyone does but it really sucked. And I was debating on whether I should do it or not but if your hair doesn’t look good or if u forgot ur make up, wait till school starts! Also the line was long so it’s not really worth it.

The line mighta been kinda long, but I love how Cal handled the photo ID takes. It was set up so that it only took about a minute to get your Cal card once it was your turn to talk to the photo ppl.
