CalSO Question

oh okay, I was really worried for a second! i mean, if it's convenient, you can do it w/ your best friend, but if not, by all means it might be good to do CalSO w/o her because then you'll be able to meet more people more easily without your "safety net"

So it won't be awkward if you go to CalSO alone without parents or friends? As of right now I'm just planning on going solo.

It's the most common way to do it, I imagine. It will make it more likely that you'll meet more people or something.

I went by myself last year, but most of the people in my group had a parent with them. It really doesn't matter because most of the time the students groups are separated from the parents groups. I had fun last year despite not having high school friends or my parents with me.

So if I go solo, I just stay in dorm buildings overnight? With other CalSO attendees?

Thanks for the info guys.

im going to the earliest (june 5-6) anyone else?

I'm graduating on June 5th, and have my senior trip the 8th-11th, so the earliest I can go is June 19-20. Oh well.

no, dont let your parents come with you

How do you pay or use CARS? I was going to sign up for one of them but CARS totally confused me.

can you sign up for calso before submitting the SIR?

No. You must submit your SIR before you sign up for CalSO.

im going on the 19/20th.

with calso, how exactly does it work with staying overnight? Whom do we stay with and where? / Are we automatically assigned / how?

When you check in, you get assigned to a group and you get assigned to a room. I stayed in a triple with two other dudes.

If I'm not planning on sending my SIR (if i pick cal) until about 7 days before the due date, will I be screwed on getting a good CalSO date? Since that's where you sign up for classes, is it going to then be extremeley difficult for me to get the classes i want??:/

no, don't worry about it so much :) you'll be just fine. it's not THAAAAAT hard to get classes you want, especilaly when you're taking big intro classes. and you're only signing up for your first 10.5 units at CalSO anyway

thanks (wow i just tried to post "thanks" only, and CC wouldn't let me because it was less than 10 characters lol.. okkk)
anyway, thank you!
:)

So, 10.5 units at CalSO, and the other couple units when?

Later. You'll get a date at CalSO in bearfacts, I believe. Don't worry, basically.
