CalSO

What if I can't attend CalSO? What exactly do you do? I live overseas and the ticket price is outrageous just to pick my classes and get to know Berkeley since I know am going there and already filled my SIR.

Also there seems to be CalSO in june and april? When do they officially take place or do they happen all over?

When I get there in August for fall semester will there be student orientation as well?

When do I receive my Tele-bears appointment? April 12?

If I can't go what will happen ESPECIFICALLY? Will I be able to fill my Tele-Bears immediately? April 12? Later than people at CalSO?

If you can’t attend CalSO, you will be able to attend some online presentations and stuff that will give you info on the campus and other things.

CalSO happens during June and July on campus.

Last year, they had a one-day program for people who did not attend CalSO. I’m guessing it’s a condensed version of CalSO.

No, you will receive your appointment a lot later. I don’t know specifically when, but I do know you will have a later appointment than everyone else.

If you can’t go (which is understandable and the CalSO will understand to), you will do your Tele-Bears sometime in early August (I’m assuming).

There is a process for declaring that you are unable to attend a CalSO - international travel costs is one reason this happens, as well as people who have previous commitments for the summer. They will send you the advisor code you need for registration and some instructions. You can register in mid-July.

On this page [Welcome to CalSO!](http://services.housing.berkeley.edu/NSS/Content/Welcome.html) there is a link “What if I can’t attend CalSO?” that explains what you need to do.

No worries - this is a common enough situation and it will work out fine.

When is the best time to sign up to get an early CalSO date? Do we have to submit our deposit and SIR before signing up?

Yes, need to get that SIR in and have your CalNet ID set up, which is how you log in for most services including registering for CalSO

So when is the best time to sign up to get the earliest CalSO date?

ASAP! They will fill up! The earlier the CalSO date, the better.

Can we sign up now?

Yes! Go for it.

calso.berkeley.edu

You can’t sign up for CalSO yet, can you?

Yes, you can sign up if you have submitted your SIR and all that. I signed up about a week ago.

you know how they have calso as a 2 day event?
what time does it end on the second day?
do we stay overnight?

Yes you stay overnight. CalSO ends approx. 1 PM for freshmen programs.

Would I be able to get a good CalSO date if i sign up on April 17?

■■■■! This is pretty unfair for kids like me who are stuck between Berkeley and another school!!! pressure pressure pressure

I know, I’m deciding between Berkeley and UCLA. Why can’t Berkeley allow students to sign up for orientation at a later date like UCLA does :(

What is the latest CalSO date? Any in August or late July? I am an international and I was planning not to go but due to the disavantage at Tele-bears (Since I pick classes afters does in CalSO) I was considering to do only one trip to CAL maybe on late July and stay there until fall. What do you think?
