What do you mean by "struggle"? Like white oppression? lol. I know a lot of kids who got into Berkeley who are "white" middle class. I guess I am too. All of us are over achievers though. How are your ECs? Whatever you wrote your essay about was apparently good enough for Berkeley to think that you have something to contribute to the school and they want to give you a chance to do better in college than you did in HS. So, unless you exaggerated or lied on the essay portion, you probably do have something to bring to the table. And unless you're trying to get into HAAS or crazy engineering, and if you aren't a slacker, you should be fine :)

woah you have a wacked perception dude. turkey or hongkong what the heck are you talking about?

i'm from so cal and im going to berk, and I imagine their are at least a fair share of people who are white at berk, at least statistically speaking (i'm not one of them however).

and as far as the nonoverachiever... i'm not an overachiever by any means (at least in the nerdy sense).. and ii'm sure there are plenty of very very chill people at berk who are also not overachievers.

Something's a little off here. I assume this person is from Montana (why else would UM be his/her only second choice?) So, considering its about as hard to get into Cal from out of state as it is to get into Harvard, this person should've had some outstanding stats. I know there are some pretty odd acceptance/rejection stories from Cal, but those people usually have some crazy hook, like they were raised by wolves or have no limbs or something, not middle class whie guys from Montana. I'm not calling this person a liar, but I'd like a little more info to confince me that this could happen.

Berkeley's population is 95% Asian. On the first day of school, when you meet your roommates, they will Kung Fu fight you to determine hierarchy. Study martial arts the summer before else you might become someone's biatch.

90% of UCB students are from Calif. You'd be crazy not to pick UCB. There are plenty departments of varying rigour. You'll do fine if you just do the work.
