I just got a call from the Office of Admissions at Caltech. She asked me what "my position was regarding my place on the waiting list", but I told her that I already accepted somewhere else. She asked where, wished me luck, and thanked me.

Was I about to be offered admission or are they just trying to set up the ranking of the waitlist?

They probably wanted to know if you were still interested. I would call them back if you are.

They weren’t necessarily about to offer you a spot.

They were about to offer you admission…this happened to a friend of mine yesterday. Call them up and see if you really want to go because they offer a week’s time for a student to accept admission

Yup…I’m pretty sure its to offer you admission because I got the same call yesterday. Instead though, I said “Yes, I’d definitely want to stay on the waiting list.”

^ I got the same call and they sent me an acceptance email the next day. I would call them back if you’re interested in Caltech at all.

ephemeraldream and sagtts, congrats!!!
So did you guys accept?

Thanks! I was really ecstatic but I’m really not sure if I want to attend now…I’m trying to decide between UC Berkeley and Caltech. To some it might seem like a no brainer, but they are such different schools that I think there is a lot to consider. =/

^ I’d rather go to UC Berkeley.

Any reason why? I’m having a hard time deciding.

@ ephemeraldream - do you want to go to a small school or a large school? Caltech and Berkeley do not “feel” anything remotely similar.

How many days are you given until u reply that you either accept or refuse the offer of admission, btw?

@chlrkd123

You are given seven days from when you receive the acceptance e-mail to respond.

Did u get the acceptance email from caltech as well?

@crazymomster

Well I’m not absolutely sure myself…what kind of questions should I ask myself to know better? About my background however, I come from a very large high school…my senior class is about the size of Caltech’s undergraduate population. Total, there are about 4,000 students at my high school.

@ephemeraldream

Which school did you decide to enroll in?
