Does anyone know how much it helps if one performs super well on the Caltech transfer exam?
Thanks

I hope the exam doesn't count for too much. I think I did really bad.

I don't know how much weight the exam is given when they're considering the applications, but when I was visiting I asked the person at the front desk in the admissions office how much weight it was given. She said passing the exam (however that is defined) was a prerequisite to their reading your application. That would imply to me that once you've passed the exam, it might help somewhat, but would become just one more factor in your application, in addition to your record, essays, etc.

but obviously if you do super well on the Caltech exams they could care less about your exact scores on the SATs right (like whether you get 800 or 780 because you made a stupid mistake...)

I would think they would give far more respect on the Caltech exam performance than any college board exam. I mean, I did great on the college board test, don't get me wrong. But I'm just saying.

I think the Caltech exam is a chance for those students that are really talented and smart but just lacked the drive (or personal focus) to get straight As. You know there are tons of those people.
