Cambridge university chances?

hello,
im a junior in high school. I want to go to Cambridge university after i graduate. What are my chances of getting in? And Ive heard GPA is almost negligable, is that true?
from freshmen year to first semester of junior i got not great gpa: from 3.1 to 3.7, but second semester i think i could get a 4.3 and probably higher(4.5) in senior year

relevant aps: hope to get two 5's this year and then next year hope to get 4 5's

sat: SAT I:2360; SAT II subject tests; math II-800 and physics and chem(hopefully 750-800)

thank you for all your help!

You need stuff to distinguish yourself from the crowd of people that will be applying with your same numbers (Leadership/internships/research). Good luck!

Cambridge: Reach

I hope you have a safety lined up…

cambridge does not care about extra curriculars so mrcnya is not really correct. they select on academic merit, stated very clearly on their website. Generally they use final year exams (A-levels, french bac, IB) for entrance, not sure how they would determine it for americans

Cambridge cares about numbers. They care about what grades you have. Additionally, after looking at your grades, they give you a condition.

I don’t understand how GPA translates into what UK colleges want, but this post is extremely flawed all together.

UK colleges don’t care about SATs, they don’t care about SAT 2’s. Secondly, every Tom, Dick and Harry has all A’s when applying to Cambrige or Oxford. You have to pass the interview after.

It’s not about “Reach” or “Safety”. What I’m tryna say is that, there’s no chance.

OP needs to do some serious research. You sound incredibly naive.

No need to take that line, STheart.

To OP, Cambridge is looking for people who have a true passion for their subject of study. This will come out in your interviews. So one thing you might think about is whether or not this truly is you deep down. Do you spend free time reading or studying a specific subject? Do you love to think about it and want to talk to others all the time about it? If so, Cambridge is looking for you. You’ll need the grades, of course, but this factor is the key.

I use the term reach to describe a school where the chances to be admitted are slim, whether these chances exist or not.

Hello,
Thank you to all of you for responding to this post. I am fully aware that I do not have the best GPA but I can argue to that when it come to my SAT testing. I have done research and even personally sent an email to the admissions office of Cambridge University but all the information i have received from both the admissions office and my own research was that American applicants typically have an excellent high school transcript, at least 5 relevant ap scores of 5 all, and at least a 2200 SAT score. I went through searching many forums through this website and that was all i got.
@STheart: I really did do a lot of research but this was pretty much all I got. I can see how my post may have looked naive to you, in fact I can probably agree with you that it is naive but then again I dont much about Uk admission processes but only that Cambridge is as or more competitive that Harvard University.
@killforstern: Yes, I know that Cambridge is all number based but contrary to what you answered in this post, the admissions office of Cambridge said that the SAT’s do matter much. Cambridge is truly a prestigious university and I understand that I literally have no chance, but thank you for some of the information you provided
@orangelogic: thank you for your optimism and encouragement and I completely agree with you in that, yes, passion for a subject is a key factor to acceptance. I also understand that it isnt enough in accordance to my numbers in GPA
@Catria: thank you very much for your in put and yes I have more colleges in the USA that i will be applying to. Cambridge university was as you said “a reach”:)
