Thanks.

Washington Mutual, Wells Fargo, BofA all have atms on campus (there might be a few more banks, not sure).

All of those also have online banking and decent checking programs.

Transfers should also be easy if it's a major bank.

So yeah. I think it's really just whatever you prefer. Or you can do the credit union, but it will make transfers, etc more difficult.

are there actuals individual boa atms? where are they?
i thought that all the atms are just credit union operated and charge no fees.

There's a Bank of America Atm in Ackerman on A level. I'm pretty sure. Haven't been in there in a while.

There might be more but I don't use Bank of America so I don't really know.

Nope, each bank has their own ATMs on campus

There are ATMs operated by the banks in Ackerman on A level, as allie says, as well as at the area near the north campus student center (next to Campbell Hall).

in ackerman, there is: one full WaMu ATM, one WaMu ATM with either deposit or withdrawal only (forgot what it is), three BofA ATMs, and i think one or two Wells Fargo ATMs.

if i had to pick, i would go with WaMu. IMO, the ABSOLUTE BEST free checking account there is. the wamu free checking account is supposed to have free outgoing wire transfers, but when i goto "transfer funds" online it says not available with your account type. i should call them about that.

but other options are:

wells fargo has a college checking with waived monthly fee if you enroll in online statement delivery, but they charge a $1 fee per month you use your check card!!!

bofa has campusedge checking which is free for 5 years while you're a student, then it turns into MyAccess checking with $5.95 monthly fee (waived with direct deposit).

citi has a college checking account, which has no monthly fee. when you graduate, it converts to the citibank account ($6000 min balance, or else 12.50 monthly fee). but, they do have free incoming and outgoing transfers between other banks.

so yeah, WaMu is the simplest. Free checking. For life. With free checks for life. Free gold debit mastercard. No need to fuss around proving you're a student or having the account automatically "upgraded" after a certain amount of time.

Yeah I've had Wamu forever and it's been good. Super easy.

boa is pretty simple too. and we dont get charged the one dollar fee for using the check card :) hahah
but yeah...im probably going to switch to wamu when my free student checking is over in a couple of years.

I currently use Wamu (pretty good, no problems so far) and I will continue to use that UCLA

allie: when you mean campus banking, do you mean a branch on Campus or just an ATM?

i have had bank of america, wells fargo , western financial and WAMU. WAMU is by FAR The best.

i pretty much have wells fargo and bof A./ they have outragoues fees for overages.

Atm. The only branch-ish thing on campus is the university credit union.

Washington Mutual and Citi definitely have branches in Westwood. I'm sure the others do too, but I'm not positive.

for some reason in the va lley there is a wamu on every dam corner

BoA has a branch... maybe several stores down from Burger King.

ALlie where is the nearest union bank

^ I think WAMU's headquarters are in Northridge. At least, that's where all my statements come from.

in westwood there is a BofA, Citibank, and Washington Mutual, in order of distance from ackerman (all on the same street).

BofA is right past burger king, Citi is near Chili's, and WaMu is all the way down by Wilshire.

^Yes.

And by the way, the fact that Wamu is soo. far. makes me angry a lot.

Just sharing.

Well, WAMU will be across the street from my apartment next year. :) There's no WAMU ATMs on campus?

theres three, as mentioned earlier. one full ATM in ackerman, one "half" ATM in ackerman, and one full one in north campus near Campbell/Rolfe/YRL.
