campus bikes

S had bike stolen–locked to bike rack. They snipped the lock and apparently threw it onto a truck. He had insurance, but what a hassle.

Honestly, if you’ve got the tool, you can cut any lock. The thing is, most bike thieves don’t have the tool, they just find unlocked bikes or ones not locked to a rack, and toss them in the back of a truck.

Buy a large metal U-lock and lock your bike to something. There’s lots of bike racks around, but lots more bikes, so sometimes you won’t be able to find a spot. But then again, most people don’t lock their bikes to the rack, they just put the front tire in and lock up the back tire…

Anyways, for the DPS bike sale, if you want one, get there the night before with a couple friends, and bring a sleeping bag or some blankets. Only about the first hundred people get tickets to buy a bike, so even if you arrive at like 4 AM, you’re out of luck.

When is the DPS bike sale?

do ppl use bike baskets?

yes they do. D always had to have one. How else can you carry your books and talk on the cell phone? haha! Seriously, don’t attempt talking on the phone when riding your bike. D crashed too many times trying to do that.

okay great thank you!! i was so excited to use a bike basket that i bought one w/out knowing if ppl actually use them :D

Don’t forget the bell ringer too! You’ll probably need it.

stylar - Not sure when the DPS bike sale is, but we registered Ds bike on-line and walked into DPS on campus, paid the $3 and picked up registration sticker. Below is the link to USC, DPS phone directory:

[Public Safety, Department of - Directory](http://www.usc.edu/directories/dept/dps.html)

The bicycle registration # is (323) 740-5519. Perhaps if you call them, they can give you first-hand info on the sale. They were very helpful & nice.

Look on-line at Target & Wal Mart. They sell new cruiser bikes at great prices. Perhaps you can line one up prior to arrival (or bring with if you can drive/move in.)
