Is there anyone else going to Campus Day for admitted students on Saturday?

I am going in March. SB Dad: could you inform us of what you did when you go?

I'm planning of going in March, too, maybe the first or second week. Yeah, I'd also like to know what exactly you did while you were there.

Personally, I didn't find the Campus Day very beneficial or interesting when I went. Then again, I've already been on campus, stayed overnight at the dorms, and been on campus countless times. I went without my parents, and just with a few friends (our school sends about 50ish students to Michigan, and we're about a 20 minute drive away). First there is a long information session that you sit and listen to. They also give you lots of information on all sorts of UMich stuff (RC's, research opportunities, etc.) After that, the kids go into a private Q&A session with campus day people (students from UMich, ranging from freshman to juniors on the particular day that I went). Next, you are split up into groups to visit certain dorms (EQ, SQ, WQ, etc.) and you take a walking tour. At the conclusion of the walking tour, you will end up at one of the residence halls, where you will eat. You will also get a chance to look inside some dorm rooms to see what it is like. Next, all the groups meet up again in a building (I forget which one), where there is another Q&A session with some professors, and an academic advisor. After this, you split up again into different groups (depending on what you want to learn more about (ROSS, for example).

At this point, I decided I didn't feel like going any further, so I called up some of my friends at UMich and we hung out for the rest of the time...

To be honest, even if you can't go to Campus Day, I don't think your missing alot. Though it's nice to see the inside of the residence halls, and learn some more about UMich. Oh, don't forget to dress warmly. It's cold, and your goign to be outside for quite some time...

I'm going on March 16th, I believe. Just wondering, if I'm going for Engineering, do they take us around central campus and everything as well? I hope they don't just show us around North.

Why does everyone hate North? I'm really confused.

I dislike it cause nothing's there.

They have a great library if you want to study though...

I will certainly report back. We are going this weekend because it appears to be the only Saturday - all the rest are weekdays. After all the normal festivities we are heading up to North Campus so DS can see the Music School and jam with a current student.

I don't hate North campus, I was just wondering if I would be able to see other parts of UM because I already got a tour of North campus during Tech Day.

no, if you're in engineering, they take you on a bus and show you bursley and you eat up there. then you walk around...last year they took us to fxb where we had some professor talk to us (i remember i actually fell asleep in this), then they show you around duderstadt i think. and then i think you end up in chrysler auditorium, where they have tables of the different engineering majors set up. there's also snacks and drinks here...i know because before my eng 101 class i get something to eat before, haha.

Okay, thanks. I guess I'll have to see central campus on my own time then.

would u say it is about the same as a regular, FREE, campus visit?
i think id like to do an overnight too, any ideas on how to do that?>

Hmm... I'm going on March 12 for LSA, and this will be my first visit. Any suggestions on hotels?

pleaseeeee....should i do this? is it worth it? can i get an overnight scheduled?

We stayed at Microtel on a tip from someone on CC and it was great. $67--free breakfast, free long distance and local calls, free wireless, free cookies, clean and new. Near north campus behind holiday inn.

We had a great day and as parents found out a lot more. I had been there once on the general tour and husband and DS had been twice on general tour and day for invited students. We had a great tour guide who gave us lots of good insights. We also did the honors program talk and got more info about what that entails. I would recommend going to campus day.

Was there an opportunity for you guys to talk with the Ross Business school? or like a session?
