Campus Day

OMG...the Hash Bash...April 1st! UMDAD..."be sure and take your parents"...you're bad...LOL!! Do the stoners still take over the entire Diag and wipe out the inventory at the campus restaurants?

Re: Pizza House (formerly Pizza Bob's) Other than pizza, has anyone tried their famous Chipote's? My friends and I were addicted to those things.
Some other A2 institutions...we used to love Lamplighter's on E. Liberty for deep dish pizza, Fleetwood Diner on S. Ashley for burgers, Parthenon on S. Main for gyros...

Pizza Bob's still exists. Bob used to live in my neighborhood, in fact. Both Pizza Bob and Pizza House offer Chipatis.

The real exciting thing is that Ann Arbor FINALLY got its own La Shish! Haven't been there yet, though.

"Chipatis"...that's right...I couldn't remember the spelling since we used to just call them Chip's. We always went to that Church St. location since it was two blocks from where we lived. Is there still the Pizza Bob's down on S. State? If not, where is he located now?

Does Pizza Bob still sell the "Destroyer" sub? I remember the picture on the wall of the guy that held the speed record for eating one.

I also remember the framed SI article about Secretariat, along with an uncashed "Win" ticket from the Kentucky Derby.

Thanks for all the information. Is there anything else in particular I should make sure to bring, comfortable sneakers aside? I noticed that the Campus Day website as a whole is pretty vague-- I'm assuming that they already have our names on record and all we'd have to present is the proper ID? I received no other notification on any confirmation papers or documentation to bring.

Also, you mentioned that you're segregated into your different programs in the afternoon for more specificity; I indicated LSA on my online application, but I recently was admitted into the Honors Program. Will there be a problem switching from one sectioned tour to the other?

We're basically going to make an attempt to wing it and just walk around while we're there and see what we stumble across, although we'll definitely try to check out some of the restaurants you guys mentioned.

Thanks again. This will be my first visit to a "bigger" university campus with regard to the colleges I've already been accepted to, so I'm looking forward to the experience.

Campus Day starts in the Michigan Union - so your first challenge will be to find a place to park. There is some visitor parking on Thompson Street, right behind the Union. Once you're in the Union, there will be signs to Campus Day. There's a Campus Day registration table and they'll have a folder and your lunch tickets waiting for you. It's not a big deal to switch into the Honors group. Just tell them at the table. The groups are large so one person one way or the other doesn't matter. You will be walking quite a bit - so wear comfortable shoes.

This is obviously dependent upon when you go, but dress warm too if the weather calls for it. It's Michigan. It can be cold. And it can also be like yesterday, with 70-degree weather - check the forecast.

Another parking option is the Maynard structure, just a few blocks north. I don't know how much visitor parking the Thompson structure really has or whether the gates are up for the other areas on Sundays.

Pizza Bob's is still there on State street, wait, is State street the street that Coach and Four barber shop is on? Anyways there still is a Pizza Bob's, it's just expensive.

Cottage Inn pizza, i think its called, is bad, overpriced pizza.

Cottage Inn is damn good. They have one on stadium too, although I like the downtown one better.

GoBlueAlumMom - Lamplighter!!! Oh, I LOVED that place. Their deep dish was phenomenal. Is it still there?

Yay...another Lamplighter aficionado!! Saw it there last summer when in A2 for the art fair...same location on Liberty. Wanted to stop in for a deep dish for old time's sake, but the place was packed!

OMG I went to the Lamplighter for Pizza during last year's art fair too! AHHH, to think we were so close, yet so far away.

Hey Wolves...Optimistic thought for the day...If you and son get past your deferments, we'll arrange to take the School of Kinesiology tour with you and your folks!!!!!!!!

lol, shouldn't be too much trouble for me to plan a tour. I got past my Wisconsin deferral and got in there, and their admissions are comprable. I gotta be optimistic, lol.
